Our small office is getting ready to be approved to have DOD certified to have classified information on board. Ok, I'm really not dumb, but am having trouble with this and don't know why!? I thought this was an easy, plug'n'play situation, but it hasn't worked out that way.

I have an Acer Laptop (Aspire 6930G) with an HDMI port and a Hannspree 28" HT09 LCD TV (1080p Full HD resolution) that has two HDMI ports. First, I got a cheapo cable off of Amazon, but when the connection didn't work initially, I got a nicer one thinking this was the source of the trouble. So, now I have a Mediabridge Ultra Series - 15ft High Speed HDMI Cable - Version 1.3 Category 2 - 1080p - Blu-Ray - PS3. So, those are my specs. I connect the cable and then boot everything up. I have changed the input on the TV to HDMI, but it says no signal found. (NOTE: I do not have a regular cable connection for the TV; the plan is to watch DVDs and streamed content on this TV, not watch cable TV - I just wanted a bigger, clearer display than my laptop, so I can have others watch with me and I don't go blind. I do have a cable modem and a wireless router with broadband internet from RCN.) And on the pc side when I try to send the picture to an external monitor via the control panel (or function keys), the pc never detects that there is something connected. I have also used the NVIDIA Control Panel and chosen "set up multiple displays" and done this "rigorous display detection" option and still get nothing. What gives??

I called the tech support on the Hannspree side, and they said I needed to upgrade the video card. I don't think so, as I found two reviews of this laptop where they reference connecting an external display for watching a movie. I run a small web dev business that's been around for a few years in this area. I've begun getting a good bit of work these days, so I don't have time to test everything on my servers or really to support them as I need to. Specifically I've been logging high IO on one machine and it appears to be related to mail functions (iotop shows "deliver" doing the most damage) so you'll need to know not just how to run servers reliably but also how to make a few fixes for an existing one.

Please be knowledgeable in Unix and its tools. Here's what I actually need done now:

* Dovecot/Postfix fixes (the server itself is lightning quick and works well but spam's been a problem)
* Apache and MySQL performance tweaks: Apache's been the main RAM hog here
* SSL certificate installation: A white whale of mine...I'm using a self-signed cert right now, this is from Godaddy :^p
* Set up some monitoring services (nothing over the top, just AWStats, Munin, maybe a couple others)

If you're good at what you do and show it while working on this stuff I'd love to have someone around who I can lean on for the tougher aspects of Unix sysadmin in the future, if not on a regular basis. Extra credit if you know your way around a php.ini and mod_wsgi.

In the same vein, for these projects please send me a quote but if I get an idea of how your work is we'll probably do hourly.

Question: I have converted a video file to Flash with skin and everything, in 4 files: .fla, .flv, .html, and .swf

When I click on .swf, the video opens, and the controls appear under the video (to pause, or rewind or fastforward the video).
But when I upload it to the server, the control panel disappears from the final product ( hence no ability to pause, or rewind, or fastforward the video).
