You remember your first grade teachers name.
                                                           Who will remember yours?

The NYC Teaching Fellows program is recruiting talented, dedicated individuals to become teachers who raise student achievement in the New York City classrooms that need them most. A good teacher can mean the difference between a student graduating from high school or not, between a student reaching for college or not. Yet, too often, our highest need students are the ones who do not have enough good teachers. Become a NYC Teaching Fellow and help to change this reality.

Through this program, a Fellow can become a full-time teacher in a New York City public school within a few months of enrolling in the Fellowship. By teaching in schools and subject areas that are traditionally hard to staff, NYC Teaching Fellows concentrate their talents in the areas where they can have the most impact.

Rather than completing a traditional teacher education program prior to entering the classroom, Fellows engage in an intensive pre-service training program and then continue their education through a subsidized Master's degree program while teaching at a New York City public school. No previous teaching experience or education coursework is necessary.

NYC Teaching Fellows come from a wide range of backgrounds and careers including finance, advertising, non-profit, healthcare, law, and academia. You could be a recent college graduate or have worked in an industry for many years. Through the Fellows program, you can use your experience, knowledge, and achievements to positively affect the lives of students. Fellows teach a variety of subject areas based on their qualifications.

Today, more than one in ten current teachers came through the Teaching Fellows program. This is your opportunity to join a growing group of motivated and energetic professionals who are answering the call to teach in traditionally underserved communities.

The Fellowship is now accepting applications for the June 2010 program. The Fellowship is competitive and interview spots are limited, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. While the size and subject composition of the June 2010 program are still to be determined, applications are reviewed and interviews are granted on a rolling basis. The Fellowship is now accepting applications for the June 2010 program.

Apply today at www.nycteachingfellows.org

The Fellowship includes:

A competitive starting salary ($45,530 - $54,000) plus full benefits

A subsidized Masters degree in Education

Intensive pre-service training with a non-taxable stipend to help offset living costs

A professional network of talented and committed teachers

Possible eligibility for an AmeriCorps Education Award
