Apartment listings on the fringe claim to be in Capitol Hill. This one really is! It is right in the core of the historic district, on a quiet residential street, but 5 minutes walk to whatever you want - post office, library, starbucks, outdoor cafes, parks, etc. <br>
The Eastern Market area of Capitol Hill was just voted one the nations top 10 neighborhoods. It is close to everything but maintains the charm of a quiet historic neghborhood. On the 3 block walk home from the metro, you will pass neighbors working on their flower gardens or walking their dogs. Capitol Hill offices, Barracks row, Results Gym, shops, restaurants, the post office, banks, etc. are all just steps away. On weekends you can stroll around the farmers market and antique and arts fair that takes place every weekend around the Eastern Market building although the building itself is currently undergoing restoration. <a href="http://www.planning.org/greatplaces/neighborhoods/easternmarket.htm"  rel="nofollow">http://www.planning.org/greatplaces/neighborhoods/easternmarket.htm</a> Apartment 2 is on the Southeast corner of a small building in the Capitol Hill Historic District. There are three large closets, 1 bath, 2 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room and small kitchen with a dishwaher. The floors have thick cushy carpeting, and the apartment has been recently painted. The total square footage is about 900. <br>
The location is honestly fabulous. The building sits on the corner of 6th and G streets, SE (529 G Street SE, to be precise). In addition to Eastern Market, it is situated 2 blocks from a great health club(<a href="http://www.resultsthegym.com/capitol/homepage.html"  rel="nofollow">http://www.resultsthegym.com/capitol/homepage.html</a>), The Washington Sports Club is just a few block further. The building is also just a few blocks to tons of shops, restaurants, outdoor cafes, etc. on Both Pennsylvania avenue (3 blocks) and Barracks row (2 blocks, <a href="http://www.barracksrow.org"  rel="nofollow">http://www.barracksrow.org</a> ). Two zip cars are within 3 blocks( <a href="http://www.zipcar.com"  rel="nofollow">http://www.zipcar.com</a>). Even the police station is just 2 blocks away (guest parking passes). This is a terrific location.  It is a furnished basement apartment with separate entrance (and another exit in the back to a garden).  There is a fully functional galley kitchen with an ugly stove/oven but a new fridge. Plus it has most things you might need.<br>
<br>
There is a seperate living area with a desk or table plus nice office chair, futon sofa and separate cozy chair.  Down the hall is the separate bedroom with a full sized bed, ample closet space and a chest and nightstand. The bathroom is newly renovated with high end toilet, sink and euro tshower with full tub.  <br>
<br>
Rent includes all utilities (water, gas, electricity) plus cable tv and DSL wireless wifi.  And yes it is air conditioned (central air and electric baseboard heating in the winter).  You are on your own for the phone, though most have used their cell phones and been fine.  <br>
<br>
There is a shared laundry room downstairs as well with washer and dryer.<br>
<br>
When I thought we had a tenant I was really nice and allowed them to start the rental at the end of the summer, so now I have actually found someone else for the summer.  Please let me know in your email when you would like to start the rental therefore.<br>
<br>
The location cannot be beat as it is two minutes to the gates of Goergetown College, minutes walk to shops, restaurants and the Gtown nightlife but yet on a beautiful block.<br>
<br>
Technically there is a garage as well -- if interested -- but this is an extra $200 per month (for $1500 total).]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[I’m renting a charming and spacious one-bedroom apartment located in the heart of bohemian Mount Pleasant.<br>
<br>
The apartment is a two-story unit in an historic Victorian house with a lovely front porch. You enter through the first floor which boasts hardwood floors and high ceilings and is sun drenched by three southern facing bay windows. These windows make for a perfect breakfast table nook off of the open kitchen with a gas oven and range. The bathroom is also on this floor and is tidy and clean. From the kitchen, you’ll find a staircase down to a large bedroom and separate den both with recessed lighting and dimmers. This second floor is an English basement with a large extrenal window and a second private entrance that leads to an outside, covered storage area for a bike etc. (it’s also an exit). The den is perfect for a loveseat, coffee table, and movie watching and there’s a medium sized closet in the bedroom. The whole unit is nicely painted.<br>
<br>
For those of you new to Washington, Mt. Pleasant is an ideal neighborhood. You’re very close to lively Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, and the U Street Corridor. Right in your own neighborhood, you’ll find a number of vibrant restaurants and cafes, local bakeries and delis, dry cleaners, and a stellar farmer’s market. It’s only a 10-minute walk to the new Tivoli/DC USA shopping center with a Super Giant, Target, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Best Buy, WSC, etc. And you’re easily connected to the rest of the city through the Metro’s green and yellow lines (Columbia Heights), a fleet of buses that crisscross the city (42, H2, H4, S2, S4), or a nearby Zip car. The beauty is having all these city amenities but with an apartment on a gorgeous, quiet, tree-lined street that’s a welcome world away. You can even walk 10 minutes the other way and be right in the middle of the National Zoo (free) or running on trails through Rock Creek Park! Mt. Pleasant also has a great ethnic mix of professionals and young families.<br>
<br>
The apartment is available June 1. Rent is $1200/month and includes water and heat. You are responsible for electricity (minor), cable, and internet but you’re welcome to tap into the communal wireless internet for a far lesser cost, if you’d like. There’s an A/C unit in the apartment and a washer/dryer in the building. A one-year lease plus one month’s rent as deposit and a $25 application fee for credit check is required.<br>
<br>
There is ample, free on-street parking.<br>
<br>
There are 3 other units in the building occupied by young professionals in their early 30s. It’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with periodic bbq’s etc. but also plenty of space for your own privacy. The ideal tenant is responsible, considerate, interesting, and has a sense of humor.<br>
