My Wedding Dress

This wonderful sculpture, created by the course of time, hung from
Brightwood Elementary School at the corner of 13th and Nicholson
Streets in NW, Washington, DC.

I think it's absolutely beautiful!

I saw it hanging there for a couple of weeks. I knew I had to have this image.
I think it is so amazing that the elements of the universe had arranged the tarp,
which originally covered the entire side of the building, in such a magnificent way.

It somehow twisted and turned and fell into this sculpture of My Wedding
Dress. Even the color was right. I saw pleats and a neckline and a veil and puffy
sleeves.

I love it! It reminds me of works by Christo And Jeanne Claude.

Two different sized floor looms kept in original condition for sale. These looms were designed and built from solid cherry wood, by an independent company in Somerset Pennsylvania, (Thought Products Inc.). The larger unit measures 45" across the rollers, and has 10 treadles, and 10 harnesses. The smaller unit measures 32" across the rollers, and has 6 treadles, and 5 harnesses. A few nuts and bolts are missing from the smaller unit, but can easily be replaced at any hardware store. All the major hardware is in tact, and the wood is in great condition. Pictures included. The larger unit is being offered for $1,000.00, and the smaller for $750.00 however, price is negotiable. Must sell ASAP! Contact Sean.

There have been many fine artists over the years with the ability to pick up a paintbrush and create a work of art that looks like a photograph. Chuck Staley, on the other hand, takes a photograph and turns it into art that resembles a painting. Other artists call his work painterly.

Working on a computer, using pixels instead of paints, he painstakingly chooses and matches colors as thoughtfully as any artist painting on canvas. Staley says, �Somewhere along the way I quit caring about whether the pictures I took accurately depicted a person or object, but found myself caught up in the attempt to reach the emotions of the viewer.�

Reviewing one of Chuck�s recent shows, The Sherman Oaks Sun stated: �The artist�s color-soaked, impressionistic photographs seethe with process-induced grains that resemble a stipple effect.

�Ghost Train, a rich-hued negative image, finds an old German locomotive glowing eerily against a post-war night. French Shepherd takes on a starlit quality as a man and dog stare out at an inky sky. Three days after snapping the shot, Staley recalled, a group of shepherds told him his subject had passed away � but years later, the man and dog live on in a pastel haze of immortal light.�

When I was in the army years ago, station in Karlsrhue, Germany, I photographed this antique train in a bombed out building.

I found out from a student who was passing by that the antique train was in a university museum. During WWII the building was bombed by the allies, exposing the treasure.

Hand embroidered silk and beadwork Burmese tapestry depicting a scene from the Ramayana. Burmese tapestries are called "kalagas" and capture the sensory feeling of classical Asian palace and pagoda design. This piece is framed with black wooden bamboo-style frame with gold trim; black velvet matting with gold metal edge outlining matting. With frame, size is 40" x 32".

Background info: Originally developed at the Mandalay court, kalagas quickly became popular at all levels of society as wall hangings, curtains, room partitions, coffin covers, and theatre backdrops. The multiple characters and epic plot of the Ramayana were frequently depicted in art (tapestries and sculpture) as well as performances that could extend as long as 45 nights.

FOLKART Square Table With Inlaid Top (Calvert County) $100

This table belonged to my Aunt who would be age 106 now!... hand-made in 1929 or before...and is a super example of early Folk Art furniture...The top is 25" square...and sits 27" from the floor.

It is a great example of hand-made inlay...which is on the entire top of the table, as well as, on the 15" square that sits between the 4 legs approximately 5" from the floor (see picture). Portions of the inlay are raised slightly...and have been as long as I have known of the table...They do not detract from the appearance! The 15" square portion has the name 'Sadie" carved in it (see picture)

The legs begin under the table at the top with a 6" long cylinder...which is completely reeded all of the way around...under that are decoratively turned leg portions approximately 13" long and end with a 5" square that has been invertly turned on each corner. The entire table has been stabilized with what appear to be to be hand-made brass angle irons...on the underside of each leg...these are very well hidden from view... It is very sturdy!

These six images below are mostly sold out. They are soft, sepia-toned, romantic images of interiors, children, women and cape cod. Here's some information about the artist's work from his website:

Norm's studio photos and indoor images were all shot using natural light with black and white film. Each image is individually handcolored with colored pencils and oil paints. A hand-colored photo is one that starts out as a black and white print. The color is added by the artist with colored pencils and oil paints. It is similar to the old photographs that used to be made in portrait studios before the invention of color film.
These photos are unusual in that they don't look like any photos that you have seen before. They are each individually hand-colored. Because of this coloring process no two are exactly alike.
All of the prints are handmade, limited editions of 250, signed and numbered. Painstaking care is taken with the complete presentation of the finished product, from an exhausting search for the finest image, handprinting, coloring, mounting and then framing in a rag mat with a quality frame especially chosen to enhance these photographs.

I will sell all six (which includes 4 white frames) for $90 for the lot. If bought individually, these would cost over $300 with the frames.

I will sell them individually for $20 (without the frames - each frame would be $5). I'll sell sets of three for $50.
PS - the two photos that are not framed are still in the originally cellophane. That's why I'm having a hard time getting a good photo of those two (bc. of the glare). I think the woman in the attic (top left corner) is more clear in the photo of all six pictures.

The blue surfer with the orange background is 2X3 feet. It is $30.
