ULLICO Casualty, The Property and Casualty Subsidiary of ULLICO Inc., is actively recruiting a Commercial Operations Manager. This position will be based in our Washington, DC office. This person will act as back up to the AVP Commercial Lines and will perform the following duties:

• Facilitate relationship with MGUs as well as daily requirements, financial analysis, rate and form changes, and audits.
• Assist in quarterly underwriting audits of the MGUs
• Administer and monitor commercial lines rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, rating manuals and policy forms.
• Provide reinsurance renewals and placements.
• Work closely with Actuarial department to determine rates due to market trending and profitability.
• Act as liaison between IT and Commercial Lines Department.
• Assist in on-going development of Loss Control department.
• Oversight of internal department managing timesheets, time off requests, etc.
• Oversight of rate and rule filings and additions to the rating systems; underwriting referral sign offs; and acquisition of facultative reinsurance.
• Other similar and related duties as assigned and overseen by the AVP, Commercial Lines.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years experience in the insurance business, with a minimum of two to three years managing a carrier underwriting department. Particular emphasis will be placed on experience in management, reinsurance, all lines in commercial and prior individual training. He/she must be able to prioritize and possess good time management skills as well as work under pressure. This position will require approximately 35% - 40% travel.
