Organization
Center City is a new organization, with a long history in Washington, DC. Once a consortium of Catholic Schools, Center City converted the summer of 2008 into public charter schools. It is the first organization in the country to do so. As such, this is a unique opportunity to join early in an effort to reform urban education in America. The central office at Center City works to ensure that all campuses receive the leadership and support necessary so that principals and teachers can focus on the students.
The Role of the Business Associate
The Business Associate will be an integral part of the Operations Team at Center City’s central office. The Business Associate will provide critical administrative support to the COO in managing the Operations, Human Resources and Facilities departments. S/he will plan meetings, manage calendars; respond to email and other correspondence on behalf of the COO. S/he must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information. S/he will assist with special projects by compiling and analyzing data, as well as assembling reports and presentations as appropriate.
Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
• Assist with key HR activities such as distributing payroll, collecting & organizing personnel updates and distributing notices and communications
• Procure supplies, services and materials at the direction of the COO
• Capture and analyze data for reports and presentations (e.g., COO reports to the Board, presentations to staff, etc)
• Draft and review outgoing communication on behalf of the COO
• Screen calls, schedule appointments, maintain and update daily calendar, prepare agendas on behalf of the COO
• Create and maintain contacts in a database that is readily accessible and accurate
• Serve as liaison between school campuses, COO and Operations Team at central office
• Support and reinforce company policies and procedures
• Serve as a positive and professional spokesperson to members of the community both within and outside the organization
• Special Projects that support organizational goals as directed
Skills & Qualities Sought:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in fast paced situation
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
• Familiarity with Human Resources and/or Operations is a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
