The Georgetown Day School (GDS) High School Research Conference is specifically designed with motivated high school students in mind. For four weeks, High School Researchers will work with a faculty advisor in small groups of 4 to 6 to research one of several subjects through a combination of library, lab, interview, observational, experiential, and lecture-based research. The experience will culminate in a group research presentation and publication in the first volume of the GDS High School Research Journal.
Research will be supplemented with a variety of classes emphasizing the various aspects of the research process. At the end of the conference, students will receive letters summarizing the experience and the student’s participation in the research and conference, appropriate for inclusion in résumés and applications.
Researchers will travel with their group and Advisor by Metro to a variety of locations to conduct their research. Assuming no other afternoon program is planned as part of the conference, the GDS Gym will be open to participants on most afternoons from 2:15 to 3:00 pm.
