Position Description



Responsible for filling interpreter orders. Serve as the primary contact with the interpreters for developing and maintaining a rapport, negotiating rates, scheduling of assignments, and resolving payment issues.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Manage and maintain interpreter resources and schedules of various interpretation assignments.

Ensure maximum profitability and high quality service by controlling interpreter costs, managing interpreter resources efficiently and properly, and determining prioritization of responsibilities.

Make sure that each order is attended to promptly and in a cost effective manner.

When local resources are unavailable, arrange interpreter travel.

Provide back-up support to other Regional Project Coordinators as necessary.

Monitor cost, order pattern, and any other changes and always find new and creative ways to manage region.

Interact with Interpreters, Accounting Staff, Interpreter Training & Certification Staff, Sales Staff and other members of the Production Team.

Required Skills/Background



Specific knowledge, skills, education, and work experience needed to perform this job well:

University degree or equivalent work experience. Preference for background in languages/linguistics, political science, or international affairs.

Some customer service or management experience helpful; effective decision making.

Experience in interpretation/translation business or other fast-paced environment; ability and willingness to function in a high stress environment.

Excellent communication skills, with ability to represent Lionbridge and the interpreting community effectively; strong organizational skills; attention to detail; and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

High level of resourcefulness, persuasiveness, and problem-solving capabilities. Creative approach to problem-solving; ability to work in a team environment.

Good general knowledge of politics, world events and languages with a regional knowledge of Africa.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
