ANNUAL WALKING NATURE TOUR - THE BEST OF GREAT FALLS NATIONAL PARK AND THE BILLY GOAT TRAIL - SAT. JUNE 7, 2008

We will begin our guided tour with a brief lecture about the history of the area and the falls as everyone gets their complimentary bottled waters and trail snacks from the guides. Then our adventure hike begins. At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. The Potomac Canal offers a glimpse into the early history of this country. Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800 acre park only fifteen miles from the Nation's Capital. Bottled water and trails snacks provided.
Duration: 3.5 miles.
Activity level: Strenuous (we will take many breaks and a less strenuous route option is avail.)
Group Meeting Place/Meeting Time: 9:00am Parking Lot Across from the Old Angler Inn (Directions)
Cost: $40. Group rates available for groups of over 20 people.
Not recommended for children under 16.
