Dating can be really frustrating. And disappointing. At times, you stop believing that what you are looking for just isn't out there. That He doesn't exist. We lose hope. Which leads to settling, compromising and getting ourselves into unsatisfying relationships. Even the most successful dater has those moments.
We also tend to ignore bad dating patterns and don't examine out own behavior. Sometimes, but not all the time,...it really is US and not THEM.
Let's start improving our love lives by identifying bad dating patterns that we all fall in to. Then, we'll talk about how to fix them. We also discuss how to stay positive, let ourselves off the hook for past dating mistakes and make room for the relationships that we all want and deserve.
WHAT WE'LL DISCUSS:
Great Expectations
Discuss why making assumptions and expecting people to behave/react the way you would sets you up for disappointment.
Personalizing Rejection
Why do we tend to personalize rejection and think it means there is something wrong with us? Many times, when someone isn?t interested or tells you that they didn?t feel a connection, we assume that it?s something we did. Learn to step outside each situation and not take everything personally.
Assuming/Over Analyzing
When we?re really invested in a potential new relationship, we tend to second guess ourselves and play mind reader. Learn why we do this and how not to.
Dating Out of Your League/Assessing The Risk
It?s not that you should never take a risk and go for someone you think potentially might be out of your league, but you definitely should become aware of what your league is and what it isn?t and make your decisions based on that.
Losing Hope
Do we hold on to bad relationships because we don?t believe there?s anyone out there for us or that this is our last chance at happiness?
Trying Too Hard
It?s perfectly okay to take some time off from dating. As a good friend of mine once advised me, ?If you try hard, you die hard.? The harder you try to make something work or meet someone, the less likely it is that you will actually find them.
Confusing Compromising With Settling
Learn to figure out if what you want is really what you need.
Getting Too Attached, Too Soon
It?s hard not to feel disappointed when someone doesn?t return our interest. But what?s worse is when we feel crushed because of this disappointment. That?s a sign that we became too invested in the outcome and too attached to the person too early.
