Generally only experience in the field of law will be considered relevant however non-legal experience following law school may be counted if it can be satisfactorily demonstrated that such experience is directly applicable to the investigative duties to be performed with the organization and is particularly helpful to the hiring organization.
In rare instances, pre-law school graduation experience, whether legal or non-legal, may be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• U.S. Citizen
• Valid U.S. Drivers License
• SC/TSC a huge + ( or must be clearable – state on resume if you have clearance)
• Veteran preference considered (state any prior military service)
• Suitable for Federal contract employment as determined by a background investigation
• Relevant experience to Investigative this investigative position (see Qualifications below)

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-12-14 Grade level

Investigator Duties & Responsibilities
The primary duties of the investigator are as follows:
a. To conduct investigations as per Agency’s directive
b. To obtain and consider the evidence on all sides of an issue.
c. To be thorough and impartial.
d. To conduct in-person interviews.
e. Types hand scribed notes from interview discussions.
f. To make findings warranted by the facts and comply with any additional instructions of the appointing official.
g. To report the findings to the appointing official.

Typical Investigative Deliverables & Guidelines
• The administrative investigation will be conducted in accordance with agency guidelines.
• The investigator will provide the appointing official with a timetable for the investigation, an investigative plan that consists of an understanding of the facts required to support a conclusion, and a strategy for obtaining evidence (this should include a list of potential witnesses and a plan for when each witness will be interviewed, preferably in-person).
• Upon conclusion of the administrative investigation, a written report of investigation will be presented to the appointing official within 20 days of the last person interviewed. The report of investigation must include sufficient documentation to convince the appointing authority and others that may review the investigation that the evidence supports the finding.
• The requirement for sufficient evidence applies equally, regardless of whether the investigating official ultimately determines that the allegations are founded, or that no fault, loss, or wrongdoing occurred.
• The report will include a narrative, chronology of the actions and conditions that led to the alleged misconduct or misfeasance under investigation, findings, documentary and physical evidence, signed witness statements and exhibits.
• The report should not recommend a penalty.
