The LAYC is a fast paced, innovative, risk-taking multicultural organization. This is a particularly exciting time as we are engaging in creating new strategic initiatives with the potential for continued growth in programs.

We currently have a HR Generalist position that is open. The specific responsibilities are:

• Prepares and maintains personnel transactions such as promotions, transfers, unemployment claims, and employee separation notices and related documentation.
• Assists in the recruitment process, interview scheduling, and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
• Administers all the day-to-day needs for the various employee benefit programs including but not limited to life and health insurance, disability, FMLA, 403(b) plan, and related programs.
• Prepares and reviews all insurance and benefit related invoices.
• Coordinates and arranges for employee information presentations and enrollments annually.
• Keeps informed and assumes responsibility for compliance with all current and new legal requirements and developments relating to FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, AAP/EEO, other regulatory agencies' programs, employee benefit programs and other conditions of employment.
• Prepares and files all required regulatory reports, including Form 5500.
• Assists in the implementation of new changes to the human resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications and/or meetings.
• Prepares all data pertinent to the semimonthly payroll; such as salary increases, adding new employees, terminating employees and tax changes, etc.
• Provide backup support to payroll processing.
• Answers routine questions from employees and manager’s company-wide providing guidance regarding the interpretation of personnel policies and procedures, and benefit plans as they relate to individuals and to company objectives. Responds to employment verifications.
• Assists with audits.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three (2) years experience working as an HR Generalist.
• Bachelors degree a plus or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven knowledge of FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, COBRA and EEO.
• Ability to write memos, letters and reports
• Ability to consistently apply excellent customer service skills to visitors, regulatory agencies, and clients
• PHR Certification desirable
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other top management and other employees of the organization
• Fluent Spanish and English preferred
