The LAYC is a fast paced, innovative, risk-taking multicultural organization. This is a particularly exciting time as we are engaging in creating new strategic initiatives with the potential for continued growth in programs.
We currently have a HR Generalist position that is open. The specific responsibilities are:
Prepares and maintains personnel transactions such as promotions, transfers, unemployment claims, and employee separation notices and related documentation.
Assists in the recruitment process, interview scheduling, and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
Administers all the day-to-day needs for the various employee benefit programs including but not limited to life and health insurance, disability, FMLA, 403(b) plan, and related programs.
Prepares and reviews all insurance and benefit related invoices.
Coordinates and arranges for employee information presentations and enrollments annually.
Keeps informed and assumes responsibility for compliance with all current and new legal requirements and developments relating to FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, AAP/EEO, other regulatory agencies' programs, employee benefit programs and other conditions of employment.
Prepares and files all required regulatory reports, including Form 5500.
Assists in the implementation of new changes to the human resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications and/or meetings.
Prepares all data pertinent to the semimonthly payroll; such as salary increases, adding new employees, terminating employees and tax changes, etc.
Provide backup support to payroll processing.
Answers routine questions from employees and managers company-wide providing guidance regarding the interpretation of personnel policies and procedures, and benefit plans as they relate to individuals and to company objectives. Responds to employment verifications.
Assists with audits.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of three (2) years experience working as an HR Generalist.
Bachelors degree a plus or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven knowledge of FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, COBRA and EEO.
Ability to write memos, letters and reports
Ability to consistently apply excellent customer service skills to visitors, regulatory agencies, and clients
PHR Certification desirable
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other top management and other employees of the organization
Fluent Spanish and English preferred
