Conflicts Assistant for Law Firm (Washington, DC)
9:30 am - 6:00 pm
•Conducts preliminary conflicts checks and final conflicts checks as needed
•Monitors the Conflicts Inbox for incoming requests and ensures that all questions are addressed in a timely fashion on a daily basis
•Provides effective conflicts of interest assessments; provides reference to any existing engagement documentation, advance waivers, matter-specific waivers and/or any relevant corporate research and family tree information
•Actively follows up with attorneys on all outstanding questions and other items related to each conflict check and every new engagement
•Provides support and gathers information necessary for the implementation of ethical walls
•Reviews new business intake requests for completeness and spots issues such as the need for more detailed responses on essential intake topics and questions
•Uploads critical documents, such as signed copies of engagement letters with standard terms and conditions, to the conflicts database on a daily basis
•Proactively assists with routine client and matter closure and with client closure letter preparation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education: College degree is required.
Experience: Prior business, law firm or research experience is desired. Experience with conflicts research, analysis and conflicts clearance is a plus.
Skills: Outstanding written and oral communication skills; analytical skills and research abilities; impeccable judgment; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to develop effective working relationships with attorneys and staff; strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
