The Human Rights Campaign is searching for an Online Marketing & Editorial Specialist.
The Online Marketing and Editorial Specialist reports directly to the Marketing Director and is responsible for ongoing communication of the Human Rights Campaign’s online properties and building online brand awareness. This is a mid-level position and is covered by the collective bargaining unit agreement between HRC and the Service Employees International Union.

Position Responsibilities:

• Work as a key member and team player of the web team to produce engaging and effective content for the Human Rights Campaign website on a daily basis.
• Build online brand awareness by managing content, look, feel, and function as well as helping to drive external traffic to HRC.org and affiliated sites by keeping sites fresh and current.
• Collaborate with other departments to schedule, track and manage projects.
• Produce special feature content including microsites, interactive and other programmatic content.
• Upload content for program areas and events.
• Manage Google ad words and other online advertising.
• Participate in the daily maintenance of the HRC website including content updates, content management system maintenance and preparing assets for posting including photographs, videos, MS Word documents, PDFs and graphic images.
• Maintain integrity and quality of website, including content and navigation, through ongoing review and maintenance, updating out-of-date content and purging/archiving of expired content.
• Recommend and initiate use of new technologies and improvements to site operations.
• Participate in intra-organization meetings to set strategy for online technologies.
• Maintain and improve organization-wide Intranet.


Position Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience with strong preference for the following:

• Preferably at least 2-4 years of experience working on a non-profit or corporate website.
• Must be pro-active and self-starter.
• Experience using common content management systems such as Red Dot, Drupal or
WordPress
• Functional knowledge of HTML/CSS (some PHP experience a plus).
• Must be creative with a talent for communicating online and excellent writing skills.
• Flexibility, willingness to take on routine tasks as needed, team player, and a positive attitude are necessary; ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Flexibility with work schedule; this position requires occasional evening and weekend work
• Experience with using the web as a medium for advocacy and social justice.
