Waggener Edstrom Worldwide's Global Public Affairs Practice is currently searching for an experienced Public Affairs Account Manager to work in our Seattle, WA headquarters. The successful candidate for this position will possess a strong background in public affairs, ideally experience with issues management and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities:
• Identify, monitor and analyze issues, including legislative and policy developments;
• Research, understand and anticipate the interests, needs and preferences of key audiences and stakeholders;
• Develop and implement strategic communications plans;
• Facilitate engagement with third parties, including in government, academia, non-governmental organizations, media and others.
• Manage day-to-day client relationships.
• Support new business development

Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelors degree or above in public affairs, government, political science, economics, communications, journalism or related field preferred.

Experience Required:
• Minimum 7 years experience.

Necessary Skills - Must Haves:
Experience with issues management and strategic communications. Strong understanding of policy issues (including international, federal and state level), particularly as they relate to energy and technology sectors; understanding of the legislative process as well as be able to recommend approaches to reaching key third party influencers; outstanding communications skills (verbal and written); and a passion for developing and driving public affairs communications strategies. Agency and international experience are a significant advantage.

Necessary Personal & Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to work successfully in a highly dynamic environment, across multiple teams, and in concert with multiple decisionmakers; make quick and confident decisions and feel comfortable setting the pace, especially if/when clients are unable to do so themselves; form solid partnerships with clients is a key trait, as is the ability to clearly communicate and guide outcomes through effective written, verbal and in-person interactions; and handle intense deadline pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage stress.

Necessary Technical Skills:
Writing, research and strong organizational skills. Industry and issue knowledge, especially in technology, healthcare and financial services, are a plus.

Team Dynamics:
The Public Affairs team works within a partnership environment with core PR teams throughout the agency – therefore open communication and “virtual” team integration skills are a must. The ability to multi-task and prioritize are also important in this role.

Client Dynamics:
This position requires the ability to build a close working partnership with a multitude of clients.

Additional Qualifications:
• Ability to drive client relationships and build relationships, providing strategic and tactical advice, drafting and implementing plans, providing thoughtful analysis, identifying proactive opportunities, crafting briefing materials, tracking coverage.

• Successful issues management experience in a corporate, government or non-profit environment that demonstrates outstanding abilities at information collection, analysis, strategy development and implementation.
• Familiarity with media and community relations.
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task and balance priorities.
• Demonstrated client service orientation.
• High level of initiative.
• Positive, can-do attitude.
