RESPONSIBILITIES:

An organization that is an advocate in the fight against smoking is seeking a Director of Major Gifts.

The Director, Major Gifts, is responsible for implementing an individual giving program that focuses on identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with donors, making the pitch and “the ask”. The candidate will need to be ready to hit the ground running. MUST have an understanding of and have worked within an advocacy organization.

Some of the duties this person will be responsible for are to develop and manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects ($5,000+) (both C3 and C4), maximize their involvement in the organization and upgrade their levels of support. This person will also lead the individual prospect development process, identifying and qualifying individual major gift prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A BS/BA and seven years of development experience with an emphasis on major gifts and working directly with donors is required. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to manage and conceptualize systematic approaches and strategies for individual development activities.
Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook (versions 97 or higher), and Raiser’s Edge. A passion for the mission (tobacco control) is highly desired. 25% travel to start.
