Rights and Resources | Strategic Analysis and Global Program Intern

Summary
Rights and Resources is a global coalition of international, regional and community organizations engaged in conservation,
research and development. Together, we are working to encourage greater global commitment and action on pro-poor tenure,
policy and market reforms to increase forest peoples' livelihoods and promote sustainable resource management.

Rights and Resources (RRI) seeks an intern to support the Strategic Analysis program and
backstop Global Programs, with term of employment from 07 December 2009 – 01 May 2010.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who will take initiative, demonstrate responsibility,
and become an integral part of our small and passionate team.

The Intern will have the opportunity to become closely involved in programs and function of
the coalition, learning about the work of RRI in human rights, forest tenure, poverty
alleviation, livelihoods security, and conservation. This is an excellent opportunity for a
dedicated and enthusiastic individual to gain experience in this sector of human rights,
development and conservation, while contributing to the development of an international
coalition.

The position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, with compensation at a competitive hourly
rate based on experience. This position is based in Washington, D.C.

The Intern’s responsibilities will include:
• Prepare background research and documentation for RRI’s Strategic Analysis Program and
Global Outreach
• Provide logistics and research support to two major global meetings
• Provide general administrative support for Strategic Analysis and Global programs, and
willingly undertake other tasks as requested.

Qualifications:
• Exceptional and demonstrated writing and research skills
• Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Courteous and professional manner, with respect for other cultures
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and basic Microsoft Excel and internet savvy

Successful applicants will possess:
• Familiarity or demonstrated interest in international context, and demonstrated interest in
the issues at the heart of the Rights and Resources program of work
• College-level education or current enrollment in a college-level program of study
• Initiative and ability for self-directed, independent work
• Ability to be flexible in a dynamic and fast-paced office environment
