Background
PowerPAC.org, a national social justice advocacy and electoral organization, is hiring a Vice President for Policy and Advocacy to head up its Washington-based coalition and policy advocacy work.
PowerPAC has worked for years to build political power for social justice in California by increasing civic engagement and voter turnout among people of color in cities and counties with large communities of color. In the 2008 Presidential primaries, PowerPAC expanded its geographic scope and conducted the largest independent political effort in the country in support of Barack Obama’s candidacy as well as a non-partisan voter mobilization program in 15 states (a report detailing the 2008 work can be found online at
http://www.powerpac.org/AnHistoricYear.pdf).

The Washington Office Director will serve as the principal staff person to facilitate collaboration with partner organizations and will drive the development and implementation of a multi-year, national campaign to promote a progressive economic agenda anchored by robust and ambitious legislation to create millions of new jobs over the next several years.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, and have experience in politics, advocacy, and legislative analysis. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities, and they will possess a keen sense of moral urgency and profound political courage.
