The United States Institute of Peace is an independent, nonpartisan institution established and funded by Congress. Its goals are to help prevent and resolve violent conflict, promote post-conflict stability and development, and increase conflict management capacity worldwide. The Institute does this by empowering others with knowledge, skills, and resources, as well as by directly engaging in peacebuilding efforts around the globe. <br>

This is an exciting time of increased impact and visibility for USIP. We recently restructured our organization, are currently expanding our education and training center, and have started construction on a new headquarters on the National Mall. <br>
<br>
USIP is looking for a full-time contractor with exceptional administrative and organizational skills to support the Institute's direct mail activities and to assist on the administrative end of publication sales and marketing for USIP Press and for the Institute’s publications program. Duties will include assisting Institute programs with the development and execution of individualized mailings for annual Institute publications; working with program staff to determine final print quantities for these publications; liaising and coordinating with the outside mail house; obtaining outside mailing lists suited to the Institute's needs; tracking costs and maintaining budget databases and Excel files; handling the free publications inventory both on-site and at warehouse. <br>
<br>
In addition, this person will assist the Sales and Marketing Manager and staff with administrative duties for marketing and sales of USIP Press books. Examples of these duties include: assisting with course adoption permission requests and monitoring subrights payments; helping to prepare and track author contracts; selling books to Institute visitors and at Institute events upon occasion; preparing for book exhibits at conferences; and assisting with book reviewer mailings.<br>
<br>
This person must be detailed-oriented and must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Tracking information and juggling projects at various stages of development are primary functions of this position. The person must also be comfortable working in a scholarly publishing environment. Familiarity with international affairs and international conflict resolution is a plus.<br>
<br>
• A bachelor’s degree is required.<br>
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.<br>

THE POSITION AND ITS PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES<br>

The Office and Administrative Coordinator, reporting to MAP’s CEO and working closely with the legal team, will be responsible for making sure things run smoothly in the office on a daily basis.  The Office and Administrative Coordinator will be expected to perform the following functions.<br>

Administrative <br>
•	Organize board meetings and conference calls<br>
•	Attend to basic office needs, including purchasing equipment and supplies<br>
•	Answer the telephone and greet guests <br>
•	Maintain database of donors and other MAP constituents<br>

Development <br>
•	Manage record-keeping, correspondence, etc., that support fundraising<br>
•	Assist with foundation relations, including monitoring application deadlines, tracking due dates, as well as assembling reports and proposals<br>
•	Plan occasional fundraising events, including a small Annual Event and periodic panel discussions<br>
•	Oversee 1-2 mass mailings per year<br>

Communications <br>
•	Ensure that MAP’s website is consistently up to date and functioning effectively<br>
•	Develop new Communications materials as needed (brochures, etc.)<br>
•	Circulate news articles, press releases, etc. about MAP activities<br>

SCOPE:  The call center scheduler schedules examinees for a variety of medical exams in a heavy inbound/outbound call center. Candidates work with multiple scripts to schedule, confirm, and coordinate procedures at various CHS contracted clinics. Position interacts with various departments and clinic staff. The position provides broad business experience in a small company setting with exposure to the legal, judicial and government sectors.

ELECTRONIC COURT REPORTER.  The job involves going to various meetings, hearings, depositions, etc. at the client’s location and recording what is being said while taking notes of who is speaking and indicating unfamiliar terminology.  Work is all performed digitally using both digital recorders and laptop computers.  The recording and notes of the proceedings are then assigned to one of our transcribers who produces a verbatim transcript.

As a court reporter you would be covering proceedings throughout the Washington metro area at locations ranging from law firms to government offices to Capitol Hill.  There is also some travel (primarily domestic).
<br>

<br>
A wide variety in the types of subject matter is being discussed, therefore a broad background is most helpful, especially familiarity with vocabularies of different disciplines.  Attention to detail and a strong work ethic are a must.  A good vocabulary is a plus.  Familiarity with word processing programs such as MSWord or WordPerfect would be helpful.

Successful candidates will enter our 2-3 week training program.  All necessary equipment for both training and actual performance of the job is provided.

The starting salary for each full-time position is $38,000 per year with benefits.

<description><![CDATA[The Customer Support Center (CSC) is seeking a part-time assistant that possess a positive can-do attitude, is able to work independently and multi-task effectively, and has strong communication and customer service skills to join its team. Duties will include staffing reception desks, answering customer inquiries, general office work and data entry tasks. Accordingly, this individual must have a strong work ethic, sound judgment and customer-friendly people skills. Must be able to dependably work a shift starting at 7:30 a.m.  <br>

The CSC team is responsible for carrying out classroom planning and logistics, instructor coordination, registration data entry and customer billing in support of a wide variety of classes at our busy Capital Gallery location. This team is also responsible for the School’s Call Center and staffing several reception desks and an Internet café, and provides overall customer service support in person, via email and over the phone.  <br>

Basic Qualifications: <br>

1.  Present a positive, professional image and possess excellent customer service skills.<br>
2.  Ability to be well organized and flexible, manage multiple priorities and deal with interruptions.<br>
3.  Good interpersonal communication skills to professionally interact with both internal and external customers.<br>
4.  Solid computer aptitude, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and the Internet. <br>
5.  Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service-oriented position that required close attention to detail, accurate data entry, maintaining organized files, and/or general office skills.<br>
6. Some college-level course experience preferred. <br>
7.  Able to pack and lift boxes weighing 25 pounds<br>
8.  Ability to reliably fulfill a daily part-time schedule Monday through Friday:  7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. <br>
