We are searching for an experienced Senior Software Configuration Management Engineer to define, implement and support software development cycles and workflow design activities. You will collaborate with Development, QA, Operations and others daily to manage source control, and, build and deploy software components for internal applications and product releases.
Core responsibilities for this position are to review and update Change Management plans and procedures as well as to script, build and enhance current processes. In addition, this position requires you to work closely with Operations to monitor and ensure development and production environments have correct configurations and processes. The ideal candidate will possess good technical and problem solving skills, a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and, the ability to work as a team member.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan, design, develop and execute software configuration management tasks; tasks include building software deliverables from source code control, scripting of builds, and tracking of build versions on a Microsoft platform.
Administer the source code repository currently in Visual SourceSafe and perform daily configuration management.
Administer new repositories going forward in Team Foundation Server and perform daily configuration management.
Work with Development to ensure Configuration Management discipline is understood and followed, assist team members with tools and processes as necessary.
Contribute to and drive the development and implementation of team and group process improvements.
Monitor application and operational processes within development and production environments.
Assist in defining schedules and quality expectations.
Collaborate with internal customers, most often software developers and testers, on assigned projects.
Assist in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of CM tools.
BS degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years experience in software configuration management; experience with Visual SourceSafe or Team Foundation Server a plus.
Solid understanding of CM best practices.
Windows system scripting experience.
Familiar with .NET and SQL environments.
Ability to actively communicate and escalate status and issues.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment to deliver results with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
