Developing agriculture on former mobsters' land in the south of Italy

Mesagne, Puglia
June 16 - June 29, 2008
Volunteer project: Mesagne is a city lying in the northern area of the Salentina peninsula (southern Italy, in front of Albania), surrounded by wine yards and olive trees. The area maintains important historical and architectural evidences from the Roman and Norman ages, such as the Castle from the XI century.
The volunteer project is organized in support of “Terre di Puglia-Libera Terra” cooperative with the aim of developing fields confiscated to mafia. Volunteers will collaborate in farming activities: in particular, grapevines cleaning and maintaining and tomatoes harvesting.
