Web Developer for Repower@Home (Alliance for Climate Protection) (Washington, DC)

Repower@Home is a new project of the Alliance for Climate Protection that aims to trigger a massive change in the energy efficiency of homes across the United States. This project uses peer-relationships and viral techniques to influence individual actions, creating a domino effect across social networks to drive residential greening.

You’ll be part of an agile, two-person development team. You will take initiative, work well both independently and collaboratively, and wear a lot of hats.

Requirements:
* Experience building standards-based web applications
* Database design, optimization and maintenance with MySQL or PostgreSQL
* Experience with development frameworks like Django, Zend, or Rails.
* You don’t leave home without a JavaScript library like jQuery or Prototype
* Familiarity with source control (Subversion or Git) and deployment tools like Capistrano
* Understanding of key issues in scaling web applications
* A passion for both elegant software and the environment

Extra credit for experience with:
* Cloud computing with EC2 or Rackspace Cloud
* Facebook applications, Facebook Connect, or NING
* Recommendation engines
* E-commerce
* Search Engine Optimization
* Open source development
* Python or PHP
