Professional Persian-speaking writer/researcher to support the Persian Team. This individual will produce original articles, fact sheets, and other content for a Persian language website, among other duties. This individual will report directly to the Office Director and will receive assignments from same or from other office leaders.


Responsibilities


a) Developing a full spectrum of information packages, to enhance effectiveness information outreach, to offer positive messages about American policy, society, and values. This content will include, but not be limited to, feature and news articles; captions; proposals, scripts, and subtitles for videos and podcasts; tops for and gists of transcripts; and web quizzes and other interactive content.
b) Maintaining familiarity with USG policy in the field of US - Iranian relations, non-proliferation, and Iranian-American cultural links, based on USG official statements, reports, fact sheets, and discussion, and using this material in his/her written products.
c) Maintaining awareness of the communications environment in the Persian-speaking world, seeking current trends of interest to young Persian speakers, in order to write original content for the Persian website reflecting those trends, to identify content to be re-purposed for the Persian site, and to research the Persian portals to market its Persian website. Liaison regularly with Digital Outreach Team (Persian) to accomplish this task.
d) Conceptualizing and proposing his/her own projects, as well as responding to assignments .
e) Producing an average of three pieces per week for website posting, each piece averaging 800 words, with each acceptable in subject matter, content, and style to the Iran Policy Officer. When possible, each piece should be accompanied by visual images. Other assignments do not preclude this production pace.
f) Adhering to the highest standards of professional journalism and ethics.
h) Recommending development of new projects and content, and providing analysis of regional events.
i) Researching, analyzing, and responding to reference and research questions of broad scope on Iran and U.S. foreign policy
j) Proposing and undertaking reporting/research assignments outside the office, in the D.C. metropolitan area and beyond, at think tanks


Candidate must be eligible for a low level US government clearance.
