Westlaw Business, a Thomson Reuters company, is a global securities research firm in Washington, DC that provides thought leadership and online resources designed to meet the workflow and information needs of transactional attorneys. Westlaw Business seeks an accomplished Writer/Editor/Analyst for a publication targeted to business law professionals. The successful candidate must have excellent research and writing skills and familiarity with securities filings, business transactions, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
Degree in business, finance, economics or law strongly preferred. Corporate attorneys or experienced financial or legal journalists best suited for this role. Law school grads knowledgeable about M&A, bankruptcy, corporate governance, corporate finance and SEC regulation may apply.
Prior experience writing about securities, finance or corporate law. Experience with legal blogging or other conversationally analytical writing a plus
Demonstrated ability to adhere to challenging deadlines
Strong editing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Proficient using online legal research platforms such as Westlaw or Lexis
Familiarity with web-based publishing platforms and multi-media preferred
Ability to analyze and anticipate interests of a targeted audience are a must
Proven ability to prioritize concurrent projects, adapting to changing priorities to meet deadlines
Responsibilities
Research and analyze securities filings and identify trends
Write and edit timely feature articles as part of a team of legal editors
Monitor the news and observe trends in securities, regulation, corporate governance, M&A, bankruptcy, restructuring and other complex transactions
Write regularly, self edit, and exercise sound independent judgment in legal analysis
Adhere to rigorous publishing deadlines
Contribute to projects and initiatives aimed at broadening client base and increasing topical awareness within other departments of the company
This position is located in the Washington, DC office. Candidates seeking consideration must be located in the DC metro area or have immediate plans to relocate.
