Community invited to share in the fun and help raise funds

Manassas, VA � On July 19, 2008 and August 16, 2008 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm & United Stor-All Manassas located at 8621 Sunnygate Drive, Manassas will host a community garage sale donating all proceeds to the March of Dimes. Donated items for the sale are being solicited from current storage tenants and from the community.

�As part of our unique organizational core values, our staff is encouraged to make a positive impact on our communities by identifying local people and organizations that need assistance. The March of Dimes is such a strong asset to our community and we wanted to be a part of their fund raising efforts so they can continue to offer the resources we need as a growing community, � said Jennifer, manager of United Stor-All Manassas. Like many others my daughter was born premature and without the research that has been funded by the March of Dimes I wouldn't be celebrating my daughters 2nd birthday this year. Here are some of the activities planned for this fun-filled fundraiser. �We are collecting donations from the community to sell up until the day before the event. We are already getting a lot of great donations for the sale and are hopeful that we will attract a lot of buyers the day of the event, � comments Joyce.

In addition to the garage sale, a cash collection jar will be available for the community to stop by and drop off money for the March of Dimes throughout the event. The community is invited to drop off donations for the sale between office hours at the storage facility; Monday-Saturday 9 am-6 pm and Sunday Noon - 5 pm. As a way to say thank you to their community, United Stor-All Manassas will also offer a special discount on storage space to garage sale patrons on the event day. The press is going to be there--and some of them want to portray this brave 2nd Amendment supporter as the lone gun rights activist. In truth, many of us constitutionalists know the importance of all nine judges reaffirming an individual rights interpretation of the Bill of Rights--that we have an individual right to free speech, etc., not a collective one.

We need as many supporters as we can muster to demonstrate support for the Bill of Rights.

When: 9 AM, Friday, July 18th

Where: the sidewalk and front steps in front of 300 Independence Ave NW at Judiciary Square (red line metro)

How: bring signs and posters in support of Dick Heller, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, etc--or at least yourselves! Chant and cheer and sign wave as a backdrop of support for the press pictures and cameras.

The July meeting will feature presentations on how to receive digital TV
broadcasts on an analog TV, and how to protect your e-mail address.

WAC member Kurt DeSoto will discuss the Federal Government's mandate for
TV stations to transition from analog to digital channels by February
17, 2009 and what it means to viewers. Topics to be covered include:
1) the differences between analog TV, digital TV, standard definition
television, and high definition TV sets and broadcasts and how to
determine the capabilities of your TV sets; 2) how to configure your
existing analog sets to receive free over-the-air digital channels by
using a converter box subsidized by the government; 3) how to submit an
order online during the meeting (or later at your convenience) for up to
two $40.00 coupons from the government to help defray the costs of the
boxes; 4) when and how to connect the boxes to your analog sets; and
5) how to keep getting low power analog channels, such as foreign
language channels. If time permits, Kurt will provide an actual
demonstration of how to hook up a converter box to an analog TV set.

Also, WAC member Neal Grotenstein will discuss ways to defeat spammers from
using your e-mail address as posted on web sites.

Tehreema Mitha Dance Company will be holding a dance audition for new members to join the troupe. We are looking for male and female adult dancers who are trained in modern, jazz, ballet, African dance, martial arts, or Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance). New members will train with the company and perform in a variety of venues for upcoming shows. Tehreema Mitha Dance Company (TMDC) is a non-profit dance company based in the Washington, DC metro area. A pioneer in redefining South Asian dance in the United States, it is the FIRST AND ONLY dance ensemble in the area to perform classical Bharatanatyam, a dance from the Indian subcontinent, and contemporary dance within the space of a single performance. Led by Artistic Director, Tehreema Mitha, TMDC explores social issues, relationships, and human nature using its characteristically athletic yet elegant style. For more than a decade, Liberia experienced a devastating conflict in which tens of thousands of Liberian women and girls were taken into the fighting forces and experienced unspeakable acts of violence, including rampant sexual violence against them, On Tuesday July 29 at 7pm, join Amnesty International USA at E St. Cinema for the Washington DC premiere of Women of Liberia: Fighting for Peace, a documentary film directed by two time academy award winner Jonathan Stack. Following the screening several of the Liberian women featured in the film will talk about their experiences and their courageous journeys of recovery. Free Admission. More about the Film: Liberia experienced a devastating conflict between 1989 and 1997 and again between 1999 and 2003. Throughout this time, record numbers of Liberian women and girls found themselves in battle and confronted with unspeakable acts of violence against them. Women of Liberia: Fighting for Peacedocuments the epic journey of five women from the beginning of the conflict to peace time. Despite the shame and stigma associated with their roles in the conflict and the challenging economic and social environment they find themselves in, these brave women strive and ultimately prevail. Their stories are an inspiration to ordinary people and an important lesson to policy makers involved in gender programming in a post conflict context.

Synner's Paradyse 2 (Great Falls Area)

A few years ago I threw a party called Synner's Paradyse. I had some of the best dj's you know about today and they played some amazing sets. Not only that, but we had live graffiti, some of Evey's famous Jungle Juice, food, beer, art and insanity on all levels.

On August 2nd, I will be resurrecting this party for an all day and all night event that will entail:

-4 stages/areas of sound in tents
-Open Donation Bar
-Huge projection screens and VJ's
-Sideshow Performers (Fire performers, belly dancers, black light choreography, and more)

This will all take place on an impeccable piece of land in Great Falls, VA. The permits are in, the booking has begun and so it's time to start the excitement!

*This party will be a fundraiser. The goal is to raise enough money to buy equipment so that these type of parties can be held cheaper and cheaper which means bigger and badder talent. You will be supporting the underground (sort of... we did have to get permits and insurance and are booking artists). [Big Grin]
