Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens celebrates the holiday season with a special daytime program from Thanksgiving Day weekend through the Twelve Days of Christmas. Special festivities include themed decorations, a gingerbread Mount Vernon, historical chocolate-making demonstrations, 18th-century dancing, and even a Christmas camel just like George Washington had on the grounds during Christmas of 1787.

All programs are included in general admission: $13 for adults, $6 for youth (6-11), and free for children 5 and younger. Mount Vernon is open every day of the year, including Christmas and New Years. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during "Christmas at Mount Vernon."

Sample fresh chocolate made by hand over an open fire. The American Heritage Chocolate Program uses an authentic colonial recipe and costumed chocolatiers to reproduce the distinct flavors of the 18th century. Chocolate bars, sticks, and spiced drink mix are sold at The Shops at Mount Vernon.

Tour the third floor of the Mansion where Lady Washington lived after her beloved husband died. She never returned to their shared room and instead lived the rest of her years in a garret chamber, which was just refurbished three years ago. The third floor is only open during "Christmas at Mount Vernon."

Meet "Lady Washington" herself! The popular hostess presents a charming program and takes questions in the Little Theater. Schedule may vary.

See George Washington�s Christmas Camel! Washington was fond of unusual animals and plants, and he paid 18 shillings in 1787 for a camel to temporarily live at Mount Vernon for his guests during Christmas.

Try your hand - and feet - at the Virginia reel, or just watch and enjoy the ambiance as costumed actors demonstrate dances that were popular in the 18th century. Demonstrations are offered in the greenhouse. Schedule may vary.

Christmas Decorations at Mount Vernon
Twelve festive Christmas trees will grace Mount Vernon's Ford Orientation Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center. Ranging in heights of up to 12 feet tall, the trees will be professionally decorated with themes relating to Mount Vernon, George Washington, and the 18th century.

Former White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier will create from scratch a five-foot-wide and two-foot-tall gingerbread replica of the Mansion. Starting November 22, visitors may watch Mr. Mesnier construct the masterpiece.

Traditional boughs of hand-cut greenery will adorn doorways in the Mansion, which will be staged with an elaborate course in the formal dining room. Martha Washington's "Great Cake" will take center stage and visitors may take home her original recipe.

Over 100 poinsettias will adorn hallways and other paths

The Shops at Mount Vernon offer a large selection of unique decorative items including dozens of ornaments, Byers' Choice Carolers - including a George and Martha Washington! - snow globes, and wooden advent calendars.

It's nearly December and I imagine the mall grounds are in the process of being decorated and lit up for the holiday season.

At 7:30 P.M. on December 11, 2009 we will meet in the center of Lafayette Park (near the statue). We will begin our tour checking out the decorations at the White House and walk towards the DC Mall. We will be sure to view the National Christmas Tree, some of the museums, the People's Christmas tree (at the U.S. Capital), and the Washington Monument. If there is any other nearby place that also has holiday decorations, write a comment below and we will try to incorporate it into the route.

This walk will be between 2.5-3 miles so wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately. It is December, so dress warm! Afterward we can go together to a nearby restaurant for some warm drinks, snacks, and more holiday cheer. (Again, suggestions of venues near the mall are welcome).

Exact walk route and after-walk location announcements will be made as locations are determined.

In case of rain or ice, this event will be cancelled. The walk will still take place in case of snow.

A free self-help group for anxiety, panic disorder, depression, OCD and other nervous fears meets Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Glenmont United Methodist Church in Silver Spring at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Weller Road. (Three blocks north of Glenmont Metro Station on the right side of Georgia Avenue--Ara Drive, Atlanta Drive, Weller Road.) There are five churches in those 3 blocks, so come to the corner of Georgia and Weller Road. If you reach the light at Hathaway Drive you have gone 1/2 block too far. Come to the back of the church in the parking lot and look to the back of the church. The Education building is on the left and we are in the double doors on the second landing. We collect a free-will offering at the meeting to defray area expenses but the meeting is free to all.

It is one of around 600 groups of its kind held by Recovery International, a worldwide organization formed in 1937 that uses self-help methods that parallel those used in cognative therapy.

WHAT IS IT THAT I DO?

I am a Dakini. A Dakini is a tantrically trained priestess. My session incorporates massage with elements of traditional tantric practice. Using both deep pressure, similar to Swedish, and extremely light touch, I channel all sensual energies to be free flowing and constant. I incorporate aromatherapy, sensory objects, tantra tools, hot oils, tantric yoga, tantric meditation and body treatments to free up any repressed or blocked sexual energy and re-route it to be free flowing and full so that one may achieve heightened sensations by engaging ALL of their senses and as a result receive longer or multiple orgasms. This can only be accomplished once the chakras are free flowing and relaxed.

Our basic life force, or Kundalini as Tantra calls it, finds its basis in the root chakra, or the pelvic area. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning power center. There are seven major power centers in the body, the first being the root chakra. Each chakra correlates to a primary aspect of life. The first, for example, relates to the energies of sex and survival. The second chakra represents emotionality and communal connection. The third chakra relates to will, power, and identity, and the fourth to universal love. The fifth connects to expression of feelings and creativity, the sixth to intuition, and the seventh to higher power and spiritual connection.

The differences of these processes for men and women are this: most men have comprised a sexual blueprint that engages themselves to become aroused simply by visual means only, rarely tapping into the multiple of ways of prolonging the arousal stage. Most women are unaware of the multiple ways to which a man's body is capable of receiving pleasure besides the obvious. To many men and women, the body and all of its sensual components are still mysteries. We, as a westernized culture, are not taught properly how to use it, and in most cases are actually repressed and discouraged from exploring it. We have our preferred blueprint to sexuality and are frustrated when things do not continue to thrive beyond our stage. This is what tantra can do for you: it can teach you how to re-program your sexual blueprint and allow you to fully become the sensual being you were meant to be. It is a blend of sacred sexuality, the Kama Sutra teachings, modern psychology, and eastern philosophy.

In ancient cultures of India and beyond, there were gurus who taught the sensual arts and healed the body. Most of the ways to which men and women in westernized cultures have learned about sex or sensuality is completely unrealistic, uncaring, and non-descriptive. I am use to working with men and women, alone or as an entire couple, and always in an environment that is caring, loving, sensitive, and informative. Tantra is a divine practice. You must treat yourself as a divine person. There are plenty of informative articles you may read about on this web site regarding the specifics of what Tantra and the sensual arts are, but you can only learn them beyond a certain realm by sharing it directly with someone. This Washington Revels performance at the Lisner Auditorium will transport us to Italy at the end of the 15th century with Italian renaissance music, dance and drama. Maestro Leonardo da Vinci, the quintessential Renaissance man, has invited the Doge of Venice, nobles from the courts of Italy, craftsmen, townspeople, and all their children to celebrate the longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice.

Despite �Christmas� in the title, this is not a religious pageant, but rather a unique seasonal celebration that is inclusive and meaningful to the community at large, regardless of background.

Join the Revels company (more than 75 performers, ages 8 to 80) and share the wonder of Leonardo's art and inventions, Italian holiday traditions, a Roman Saturnalia, and the magic of the season with glorious music, rousing dance -- and a solar eclipse!

Most of the spoken dialogue will be in English (but not all!) and there will be 16 songs in Italian.

Ticket prices range from $18-45 but if we have enough interest in our group we will be able to obtain discounts of 10 or 20%.

TOLU2BOOKS CLUBS TIPS FOR FUN

Book clubs are a great way to meet people who share similar interests - books! You can join or start your own Tolu2Books Club.

Below are some tips for starting a Tolu2Books Club.

1. Focus of the Tolu2Books Club: Reading and discussion of �WHY AND HOW WOMEN ARE EXPLOITED BY MEN WORLDWIDE�.
That is a life guide for females from 9 to 109 years old worldwide.

2. Location: either someone's home or public facility such as a community center, local bookstore or library.

3. Number of members: 6 to unlimited. But, it depends on the location. For example, if the meeting is in someone's home, then small a group of 6-8 works best. Larger groups can be accommodated in public facilities.

4. Recruitment: how many members and types of members will determine the method of recruitment (i.e. open to all, or for women only, children included, targeting teenagers, or retired folks). Notify your friends and family, or advertise in the local newspaper, school, college, library, bookstore, church, or community center news.

5. Refreshments: light snacks and drinks add to a more relaxed atmosphere which is conducive for discussions. You can have a pot-luck where everyone brings something, rotate the food responsibility to one or more persons, or folks can chip in some money to cover expenses. If the location is at a book store, then there might be a cafe section where people can purchase their own food and drink.

6. Points for discussion: the author, book theme, characters/plot, specific passages, what you liked or disliked about the book.

7. Moderator: it is important to designate a discussion leader (or rotate the responsibility) in order to help move the meeting along, guide the discussion points, make sure everyone has a chance to speak, and keep within the time frame of the meeting.

8. Frequency of meetings: Tolu2Books Clubs often meet twice a month. But in order to allow enough time for everyone to obtain and read �WHY AND HOW WOMEN ARE EXPLOITED BY MEN WORLDWIDE � for discussion, clubs can meet anywhere from once a week to every other month to only twice a year, depending on the member's desires and availability.

9. Length of meetings: generally two hours, but anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the host availability and group consensus.

10. Day of the Week and Time: consistency is important. The meeting day and time depends on the host and consensus of the group and can vary from a weekend afternoon to an evening during the week.

So my Having a list of questions will help spark interesting discussion and will keep slow discussions moving. Also, if you know that a number of your members are having a tough time getting through my book, consider other members read their favorite paragraphs.
To spice up your meetings, consider the following: Celebrate your member's birthdays with cake.

Set up guidelines - To help meetings run more smoothly, it is important to choose a discussion leader, establish the roles of the discussion leader, and elect a record keeper.

General Tolu2Books Discussion Questions
1. How realistic were the characters in the book?
2. Did you identify with a particular character?
3. Did the book's setting appeal to your senses? How important was the setting in the book?
4. What is the significance of the book's title?
5. What were the central themes?
6. What were the motivations and forces behind the character's actions?
7. Did you like the ending? Would you change anything about it?
8. Is this book similar to other books you have read?
9. What are the book's strengths and weaknesses?
10. Could this book be a movie? Could there be a sequel?
11. Would you consider reading other Tolu2books?

So my advice is: For the first round of comments, limit each person's time to speak to a minute or two, require everyone to contribute at least one thought, and require that everyone else stay silent until it is their turn. Once everyone present has at least had the

We are a group of people that will be hitting up the slopes this winter.

The group does more than just skiing and Snowboarding though.

We get together for happy hours, dinners, live concerts, comedy clubs, paintball. Just whatever. Any person is free to set up any event they want to.

Hello,

I am looking for BBW's and BHM in the area that would like to start meeting up on a regular basis, probably at a bar somewhere in woodbridge or dumfries...

There are tons of guys that are interested in BBW's and SSBBW's, likewise there are women interested in men of size... It's just hard finding them in one location, and pictures are not always the same as in person (sometimes the age of the picture doesn't always match their age when you meet them)... So why not cut out the red tape...

As the diversity and population grows in the Prince William County (to Fredricksburg) area, there seems to be a developing appreciation for people of size. This will be a social group for BBW/BHM and their admirers. This is not a group for swingers, one night stands or hook-ups.

There are some fantastic BBW/BHM groups in MD and DC that have established events and get-togethers! I'm just not able to make the drive and so, I miss out on some wonderful events! I would love to find places locally, where men and women can meet in a public place and feel welcomed for their beauty, knowing the people that surround them are interested in them!!

If there's enough of an interest, I would like to have monthly meet ups, possibly other types of events too (museums, historical trails, hiking, wineries, outdoor activities, etc.)

Sisters Serving Our Community, Inc's 2009 Membership Drive in underway. We are reaching out to our sisters, and are inviting you to take a look at us.

SSOC, Inc. is committed to Making a Difference in our community through our community service efforts, educational and health initiatives, promotion of Unity through Sisterhood, and mentoring initiatives.

Our ultimate goal is to create a weekend academy, where we would mentor, young females and teen moms. This program would encourage and support these young ladies as they journey through life. In order for the initiatives we have plannd to come to fruition, we seek positive, like-minded sisters, who feel they can help us move Sisters Serving Our Community, Inc. to the next level, to join us.

Sisters Serving Our Community, Inc. is opening chapters in MD,DC and VA, and seeks chairs and co-chairs to lead these chapters.
