Okay so....

I am a 24 y.o straight male looking to live with either girl(s) or guy(s) in DC or NoVA. I am originally from Hartford, CT, and have lived in DC for the past 6 years (having gone to school at GWU), and now mostly work from home. Hi there,

I'm an early 20s female looking for a room mate. To start here are some basic details about the apartment. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath (1150 square feet) apartment at 1210 Massachusetts Avenue. Move in would be January 7th or beyond. Utilities aren't included in the price but I believe including internet etc. they'd be around $50-60 per person. Hello! My fiance and I are looking for a good samaritan out there who can help us with our housing situation. Currently, my fiance is staying with a friend in Falls Church while she finishes her schooling for a career in the Income Tax/Accounting field. We are currently living separately, as I am staying with a friend in Frederick, MD.

Last summer, we lost our apartment due to some economic hardships. We have stuck it out as a family (we also have a 3 year old son) but living separately is hurting us badly. She is not working right now due to her schooling, and I am working full time and trying to hold things together for us. She will be going to work soon, and as soon as she does I will be moving to the Falls Church area as well. I know our current situation is not very reassuring to a potential rentee, but I'm confident that if we can just catch a little break, we can get things together and be back on solid ground very quickly.

We are just having a little trouble coming up with the money for a deposit and first months rent.

We are looking for a place in the Falls Church/Alexandria area around the first of the year (or sooner, if the right opportunity presents itself).

I'm hoping to find someone out there who owns a rental property (preferably 2 bedrooms) that would be willing to work with us on the deposit and first month or 2 of rent. She has a great job lined up, but won't start for probably another month. And I've been looking for a job in that area as well, and am very enthused by the number of job opportunities in the area.

We can realistically afford $600-650 per month, but just can't seem to get far enough ahead to come up with $1200+ to get moved into a place.

If anyone out there has a property that they would be willing to work with a young family on, we would most certainly prove to be wonderful tenants. Plenty of Mice, Roaches bad manners property management, none- stop problems left & right. The property people here start with Amanda she is a bad person she think that she can step on all of our heads. I think she needs to look herself at the mirror every now and then to see the inner animal inside her that cause her to have an animal manner & attitude. Toni she is a good sales old woman you can believed her but be aware she is a snake.
If you are active person and still have a life do not rent here. But if you are waiting and counting your remaining days on earth then this place is for you. Is not all about money that you save is important it is all about what quality of life do you want? Is not safe to live here people standing around the front door look like a drug dealers.

On top of it, they want a private entrance, kitchen, parking for three (3 vehicles, use of the garage, work from home and increase the individual's utilities and want to bring an animal. Now granted, what is available may not be glamourous, but if it pays the bills while you get over the hump, then hey, that works....or work two jobs. I know people that will not temp or lower their employment standards because they do not want to......Guess what? Oh, Fulbright scholar.....if your housing allowance is not enough for DC, get a night or weekend job! That is what my friends did back in the 90's.

Honestly, what is wrong with the vast number of people that post here? DC is expensive and landlords have a lot of financial responsibility and liability. They do this as a business, to make money. If you want to live in DC, understand the economics and be willing to WORK!

So heres the deal,...I grew up around this area and just got a job at the Pentagon. I am a 22 year old guy that graduated from VA Tech this past may. I'm moving to DC to start a new job next week. I am working right next to the Eastern Market metro stop and would prefer to find a place as close to that as possible because I am required to drive to work everyday, but I realize it may be out of my price range. In that case, I would be looking towards Columbia Heights/ Dupont Circle/ Stadium-Armory, anywhere city centre that I can afford really. I am originally from Michigan, just returning from working a year and a half abroad after college. I will be bringing one cat with me who gets on with everybody/ everything (pretty much thinks he's a dog) so if you have a pet as well it's probably not an issue.

I would like a washer/ dryer in the house, a parking space, and for it to be somewhat close to a metro, but it's not the end of the world if I'm not since I have to drive to work anyways. I have a lot of housewares...dishes, curtains, decorations from a lot of different places around the world, shelves/ wall hooks, things like that, but not too much big furniture aside from bedroom stuff. Maybe you have couches/ coffee table, or we could find some together?? It's important to me that my house be a refuge after a long day of work, so not a party house, and some decent level of cleanliness is preferred. I would like to be friends with my roommates or at least good acquaintances...not silently passing in the halls and leaving notes on the fridge about house issues.

My ideal rent would be around $600 plus utilities, and I really can't pay over $750 including utilities since I am working for a non-profit and don't make the big bucks. I prefer to live with girls, but the right guy could maybe be considered. I would be interested in an open room or in looking for a place together. I will be in DC Nov 16th onward to meet in person.
