UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR EXCEPTIONAL PATENT ATTORNEY (Silver Spring, MD)

SAIDMAN DesignLaw Group, an AV-rated law firm in a close-in Washington DC suburb, is seeking a highly skilled, creative, experienced patent attorney. We are a boutique’s boutique, a small law firm specializing in a unique IP niche: design law - the protection and enforcement of IP rights in the aesthetic appearance of our clients’ products.

The firm’s practice includes direct representation of this country’s most design-forward companies, consulting for other litigators as experts in design patent law, analyzing infringement and validity of design patents, enforcement matters, and preparing and prosecuting mainly design, but some utility, patent applications. The firm also has a substantial practice in trade dress and design copyright matters, both on the procurement and enforcement sides.

If you are registered to practice before the USPTO and have at least 5 years experience as a patent lawyer, this is an outstanding opportunity to become a specialist, and possibly key player, in this burgeoning field. The ability to work independently, at a high level, is critical. If you have supervised younger lawyers, this would be a plus. If you do not have in-depth exposure to design patents, but have honed skills in the utility patent area, we will train you in the niceties of design patent law.

SAIDMAN DesignLaw Group is not your typical workaholic law firm. The lawyers in the firm find deep satisfaction in the design law work, representing design-conscious clients, in a congenial, non-corporate atmosphere that emphasizes quality over quantity. We work hard while we’re here, but we’re not here all the time. Weekend and evening hours are the exception, not the rule.

Please send your c.v. and your favorite legal writing sample to recruiter@designlawgroup.com. Your cover letter should focus on the qualities set forth above, and clearly demonstrate why you are a highly qualified candidate for this position. For more information about, us, see www.designlawgroup.com.

One of Washington, DC’s most prominent law firms located near Foggy Bottom Metro seeks an experienced (3+ years) Litigation and/or Labor & Employment Secretary/paralegal for one very busy and brilliant Labor & Employment partner and in the future, a self sufficient associate.

Here is the real deal: You must be VERY organized, this partner has 30 irons in the fire and absolutely won’t do their billing you so have to keep track of it daily and prepare the bills for approval. You MUST have thick skin; this partner will contradict themselves and throw you under the bus if necessary. You must be calm in the face of chaos or a meltdown. This attorney is not a yeller or screamer and really wants someone who will learn their practice by watching, observing, reading and thinking ahead (almost a mind reader). If you make mistakes, let work pile up on your desk; play on the internet, than this is NOT the job for you. The firm is aware of the situation and will help you as much as possible but the right person will make this partner happy. They have seen it so they know it is out there.
