The owner has a 1 year old son who will be coming to the gallery on Saturdays. The new assistant will need to be able to occasionally help with the baby and at times be left alone with the baby. On weekdays, the owner will need to leave before closing to get him from daycare. This will require being able to close the store yourself at the end of the day.

At this time the gallery/shop is open T,Th,F & Sat from 10:00 to 6:00, Mon 10-4 and Wed from 1:00 to 8:00 (closed Sunday). The hours we are looking to fill are from opening to closing, Tuesday through Saturday.

The salary would depend on experience.

The gallery was purchased by the current owner 5-1/2 years ago. The gallery shows only original artwork by local artists. As a frame shop, Applegate Gallery has already established a reputation for unique presentation of art work, particularly the presentation of objects such as the “hole-in-one golf ball” nestled on a background of Astroturf, vintage crocheted baby clothes salvaged from a Katrina-ravaged residence or etched champagne flutes from a West Point wedding.

Applegate Gallery is also the shop of choice for those seeking restoration of photos that are damaged. The photo restoration service at The Gallery has included wedding photos from the 1970’s that had faded to a ripped photo from 1880 and a domed photo of a child from 1940 which had a hole in the middle of the child’s forehead. Bouquet preservation is performed at the gallery as well.

If you are interested in pursuing this position please respond via e-mail or fax with a resume to set up an appointment to meet with the owner, Sara Minarik Applegate.
