Creative Metalworks School of Design Open Studio / Work sessions are intended to allow past students the opportunity to make up missed classes, work on new projects, or finish projects. It is also intended to introduce new and potential students to Creative Metalworks School of Design. Past students; please bring your projects for a photo session! This is a free, six hour open studio sessions. Additional open studio sessions to be announced.

Our students have produced a fabulous collection of quality Metal Art Creations. Join us to celebrate with this seasonal exhibition and sale of student work. Pieces may be seen and purchased during the exhibition, or during Creative Metalworks regular hours: 9 AM – 6 PM, M –F. Tour Creative Metalworks School of Design during our concurrent Open House. This exhibition will continue through Friday, May 23rd.

Creative Metalworks School of Design Summer 2008 Courses

Jewelry Fabrication Techniques:
Students will learn basic design and fabrication techniques including the use of different torches and their applications, sawing, filing and flex shaft techniques. Stone setting techniques will be covered along with more advance techniques such as: forged wire fabrication, hydraulic forming, multiple surface embellishment techniques and as appropriate, advanced setting techniques. Students will create 2-3 pieces utilizing formed, forged and fabricated metals. This is an 8 week course, limit 10 students.

Tuition: Pre-registration: $465.00; after April 29th: $485.00

Advanced Fabrication:
This course is designed for students with considerable experience and fabrication skills. Students will focus on projects involving advanced stone setting techniques with hands on demonstrations and the use of Mokume Gane and Keum-Boo. The first hour and a half of each class in weeks 2-7 will focus on instruction in specific techniques, with the remaining time for practice and guided development of individual projects. This is an 8 week course, limit 10 students

Studio Bench Sessions:
CM School of Design is now offering studio bench sessions for students who have taken a minimum of 2 courses with us. These sessions are offered to our current and past students as additional bench time. Students must bring all material needed; there will be no material for sale during these sessions. It is mandatory that students are checked out on specific tools.
Next Course Offered:
Mondays: (6/2/08 - 7/21/08) 6:00 - 9:00 PM
Cost: $240.00 for all eight sessions; or $36.00 per 3 hour session. Registration and fees are required prior to start date.

Casting Two Day Workshop
Students will learn basic design, layout and wax work for lost wax centrifugal casting. Both vulcanized and cold molding techniques will be introduced. There will be demonstrations on gravity, vacuum and cuttlefish bone casting. Each student will complete one piece using the centrifugal casting technique. Instructor: Michael Schwartz

June 7th and 8th (Saturday and Sunday) 10 AM - 4 PM (both days)
Cost: $165.00

General Description: Creative Metalworks School of Design: Classes are individualized to suit student needs yet encourage group participation and learning. Class size is set for minimum of five students and maximum of ten. Initial projects are suggested that will provide a foundation for the development of a broad range of technical skills, while spurring the creative process and in-depth learning about fundamental principles involved.
