Serenity Players, Inc. of Washington, DC, now in its 25th years has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, creative, well-organized person who has a passion for the arts and is looking to pursue a career in theater management.
The mission of Serenity Players, Inc. is to entertain, educate, and enlighten by bringing professional quality theatre to the underserved community East of the Anacostia River. It conducts one play a year, one collaboration and 1 summer program or camp for young people. The Executive Director oversees all aspects of the day-to-day direction and management of the administration of the Company; and works with staff and Board to ensure that the organizations’ mission is being carried out. The ED will develop and coordinate a comprehensive strategy of financial development, marketing and community relations. The ED will prepare budgets and manage financial operations. He/She will compose and prepare funding proposals and develop and build strong relationships with foundations, government and corporate partners. He/she will oversee long and short-range planning and will hire, train and supervise a staff. All duties will be carried out in cooperation with the Board, whose functions the ED will help to fulfill. It would be Serenity Players preference for the Executive Director to volunteer (approximately 50% of the normal 40-hour work week) for the first year and full-time in subsequent years.
Education and Experience–
• Demonstrate superior organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Is able to meet deadlines and has strong internet communication skills.
• Has excellent communications skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of QuickBooks.
• Non-profit financial management a plus.
• Performing arts experience or education preferred.
