The Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education (MCBRE - www.mcbre.org) is the nation's premier business-education partnership organization. Harvard just published a case study on us! Our Board is made up of 37 companies - many of them Fortune 500 companies - that serve as business consultants to Montgomery County Public Schools (one of the best and largest school districts in the nation) and offer cutting edge student programs that help kids connect what they're learning to the real world.
MCBRE is seeking a volunteer or stipend paid Program Manager to join our staff and execute two, very exciting programs between now and April 2010. One is our Young Professionals Conference and the other is Champions for Children, a annual gala that recognizes those individuals and business that make a significant impact on education. Both events are very high profile and filmed for public TV. Need someone who is passionate about the difference the business community can make in public education, someone with project management skills (organized, detailed, meets or exceeds deadlines). Hours are flexible and could range from 20-30 depending on how productive you are. Majority of work needs to be done in Rockville office (walking distance from Rockville metro station) and some could be done remotely. You will develop relationships with Fortune 500 Executives, the top school leaders, and see the fruits of your labor realized in the spring.
