Need a floppy eared friend to keep you and your dog company?
Petunia is a sweet playful little lady, btwn 1 and 2 years old and 20 lbs. She is currently in a foster home, and is gaining weight and confidence (she arrived from the shelter scared and emaciated).
She loves the dog park. She loves toys. She loves treats. She loves her crate, and goes in when she is told, "go in your house" or if she sees you carrying her food bowl, because thats her dinner spot.
She is still working on house breaking, but when she was with a temp foster for a week who had a doggie door, she had no accidents in the house.
She is unusually quiet for a beagle: barks about twice a week (seriously!). She only barks a bit when she is playing, or more likely trying to convince a doggie friend to play with her. She likes playing with her human friends too once she gets to know them. She likes playing tug with her foster mom, and pouncing after toys thrown for her. She also likes snuggling on laps and lets her foster mom carry her around.
She plays well with dogs of all sizes. She has played with toy breeds and large german shepherds and many other dogs of various shapes and sizes. She is very submissive, and will lick other dogs faces to make sure they know it. Once that is settled, she likes to play chase, tug, or even wrestle a bit.
She is often overlooked at adoption events because she is initially very shy with people (especially men), and gets a bit overwhelmed by all the commotion (she is from a rural shelter, and not used to the hustle and bustle of the city!). But a shy dog loves the people who gain her trust like no other dog can! She is a true sweet heart, and has no fear aggression- she just tries to hide or run away when she is frightened.
She is extremely gentle, so would be fine with kids, but children should be taught how to approach her slowly to avoid frightening her (at least initially).
See her video on petfinder! Email me for more info or to set up a time to meet her in person. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10308950

*** By adopting Petunia, you will save the life of another dog in a high kill shelter waiting for a foster home to become available***

Because Petunia is so much more relaxed and confident in the presence of another dog, she can only be adopted into a home with another dog- preferably a confident dog.
