Job Description:
Incumbent will provide specialized technical support for the Division of Solid Waste Services (DSWS). This position requires a high degree of technical proficiency with troubleshooting a variety of complex computer hardware and software issues, and knowledge and experience in programming languages. The incumbent will work as part of DSWS’ IT staff and with the Department of Technology Services in resolving various hardware and software issues, and create a knowledge base for exchanging ideas that will proactively take “technology transfer” to another level. The position requires an employee with outstanding customer service skills and experience troubleshooting over the phone, via email and face-to-face. There may be occasional after-hours software or hardware problems. Therefore incumbent will be required to report to work sites within Montgomery County and should be readily able to transport themselves before and after core work hours.

Minimum Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university and/or certifications in specific programming languages or operating systems may be required, depending on the duties of the position. Programming languages might include Visual C++, Visual J++, C++, C, SQL, Oracle Developer 2000, ASP.Net, HTML, and/or JavaScript.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Two years of experience in the information technology field in areas such as programming, systems analysis, and web server support.
Resumes should include information specific to the preferred criteria listed below:
1. Knowledge and experience solving technical problems with Computer networks, servers, Microsoft Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, Oracle version 10.x, Sharepoint; and analyzing and solving complex software issues.
2. IT certificate from one of the following groups: Comp TIA A+ Certification, Microsoft Certification MCTS, MCITP, and/or Oracle Certified Associate OCA.
3. Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting Paradigm software and hardware associated with electronic weights and measures.
4. Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting all Microsoft products and operating systems.
5. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining the Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) web server application and the Weather Station system at the Resource Recovery Facility.
6. Experience and knowledge of programming languages such as Java, PL-SQL, SQL, C, and/or .Net.
7. Experience in strategically planing and coordinating Information Technology tasks in an operational environment, using oral and written communication and sound judgment.
