Software Engineer

DESCRIPTION
QRC is actively seeking a software engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will take an active role in the development, testing, and maintenance of both external and internal software applications for equipment servicing the telecommunications industry. The position is ideal for someone with initiative and ability to work well both in groups and independently on individual projects.
This position may give technical direction to Associate Software Engineers and other Software Engineers as required, work cooperatively with other engineers from multiple disciplines, and will take direction from senior level positions as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the assignments. Will support customers, marketing and other disciplines as required and will represent QRC professionally, respectfully and with confidence.
The Software Engineer will develop high quality software requirements specifications, functional specifications, software design documents and test documents and will participate in code reviews. Will also design, implement and integrate dynamic link libraries, GUI modules and other such components to control telecommunications equipment with extreme attention to detail, quality and robustness of software modules. Development platforms include both Windows XP/CE PCs and cellular phones.
An understanding of the creation and implementation of dynamic link libraries (DLL), memory management techniques, multitasking, exporting/importing, standard calling conventions, and similar disciplines is expected. Proficient knowledge of GUI design is required for both the designing and debugging of code.
Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills and is expected to keep current with new software technologies. An active US government security clearance is a strong plus. Minimally, the candidate must be able to obtain a clearance when sponsored by QRC.
REQUIREMENTS
• 3+ years of workplace experience designing and developing PC-based software applications.
• Proficiency with software design methodologies (OOD, OOP), Visual C/C++, MFC, Visual Basic (.NET technologies recommended), Win32 API, multithreading, synchronization and blocking mechanisms
• Experience with database interfacing and design, and hardware control functions is a plus.
• Experience in developing requirements definitions and functional specifications
• Ability to obtain top level US government security clearances.
• Cellular communication knowledge/experience preferred (e.g., WCDMA, GSM, CDMA 2000, iDEN etc.)
• SQL based database programming and design is a plus.
• Experience with RF, embedded, RTOS, development methodologies (Rational, SQA, etc.) and DSP concepts is a plus.
EDUCATION
BSEE/BSCS or Equivalent, MSEE/MSCS preferred.
