The incumbent in this position is a key member of the marketing and communications team, with 50% of their responsibilities in web development and graphic design and 50% in web marketing. Emphasis in hiring is on the individual’s technical experience and skills in web development, design and graphic design, along with capability, interest and/or experience in increasing website visitors and conversions.
Position Accountabilities:
Web Development & Graphic Design (50% of time)
Incumbent further develops organization’s website, prepares web pages, and designs online and print materials, as well as supports partners’ web and graphic design needs.
In addition, incumbent’s accountabilities include:
-Developing and implementing new site features, such as for transactions and site performance
-Improving as needed the design & functionality of online calculators
-Drafting copy for web pages
-Revising layouts as agreed upon from discussions and team meetings
-Conceptualizing and implementing potential new layouts and site navigation
-Interacting and coordinating with partner web teams as needed
-Updating and streamlining site content and templates in Expression Engine
-Identifying and systematizing approaches to maintain site speed as part of content management
-Troubleshooting website problems and providing direct user support when needed by staff
-Maintaining site back-end and managing relationships with vendors, including hosting
Web Marketing (50% of time)
Incumbent develops and implements approaches to double site conversions and triple site visitors.
-Monitoring, recommending and making site improvements to meet visitor & conversion targets
-Optimizing site and meta tags for search engines
-Updating and improving Google AdWords campaigns
-Implementing strategies and programs, along with aggressive outreach and networking, to increase relevancy and ultimately visitors to the site
-Providing regular reporting on website, blog and social media statistics
-Preparing layout and lists for Constant Contact email campaigns
-Laying out e-newsletter for distribution with Constant Contact
-Improving layout and features of WordPress blog and social media pages
Skills & Experience:
Prior work experience in web design/web development and graphic design
Design experience with Adobe suite applications including Illustrator and Photoshop
Proficiency in HTML and CSS
Experience with JavaScript, PHP and/or SQL a plus
Experience increasing website visitors and conversions
Expression Engine, Constant Contact, and/or e-commerce site experience a plus
Team player- meets deadlines and able to prioritize and complete tasks
Excellent written and oral communications skills a must, with attention to detail and effective communications
Interest in working in the global warming context
