Computercraft seeks a highly skilled individual who will serve as the primary contact for the XML data submission project which processes PubMed citation and abstract XML submitted by journal publishers. Details about the NCBI data submission project are available:

The successful candidate will work onsite at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with experts from NIH's National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Job Responsibilities:

• Acts as the primary contact for data providers to ensure accurate XML data submission for both current and test data.
• Provides administrative support and online technical documentation for data providers.
• Works closely with NCBI programmers to monitor changes to the system during DTD and XML updates.
• Consults with NLM Customer Service, programmers, Indexing, and Cataloging staff regarding data submission and serials’ issues.
• Assists in establishing new policies and procedures to handle the large volume of XML data submitted by data providers.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience with XML and FTP software.
• Experience in SQL, UNIX, XSLT and database structure is a significant plus.
• Good communication and writing proficiency, as well as analytic skills with attention to detail to provide quality data checking.
• Knowledge of database searching and indexing concepts, and bibliographic record formats including a background in library or information science is useful.
• Bachelor degree.
• Familiarity with Web publishing in particular online journal publishing.
