Children Provide a Taste of Uganda Through Singing, Testimony, Friendship

For more than two decades, people from the sovereign states of Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi, who make up the East Africa Episcopal Area, have been critically affected by civil war, natural disasters, and disease, leaving millions dead and a growing number of widows, orphans and vulnerable children. The East Africa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is addressing the dilemma with emphasis on equipping children with the necessary life skills and moral values to survive the challenges of their fate. An important feature of the Conference's plans is creation of an all inclusive education center at The Humble United Methodist School in Uganda to provide a wholesome environment for children of all ages. Similar centers will be established in the remaining East African states.

A select group of young Ugandans -- the 22-member "Hope for Africa" Children's Choir -- will perform at several sponsoring Methodist churches in the Northern Virginia area including Charles Wesley. Their concert promises to be an inspiring hour and a half of song and testimony.
