The Arlington County AmeriCorps team will remove invasive plants, re-establish native vegetation and apply fiber matting to control streambank erosion in efforts to improve water quality. A typical workday will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a 35 hour work week. Team members will learn to identify invasive plant species and native plant species of the Four Mile Run Watershed and best methods and practices for removal of invasive species.
This job has a term of one year with a possibility to stay on. AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance of $11,400 per year. Health insurance coverage and child care assistance are available for full-time members. If a member has received forbearance on a qulaified student loan during the term of service, the National Service Trust will repay a portion or all of the interest accrued during the term of service. Upon successful completion of the term of service, the member will receive an education award from the National Service Trust in the amount of $4,725.
