Summary:
MicroStrategy, an international software firm recently created a new Immigration Manager role to manage, evaluate, and improve our worldwide immigration program due to increased business needs. This role is responsible for preparing work permits and visas for travel and all immigration issues related to travel, expatriates, and relocations while managing relationships with internal and external personnel.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a professional with prior in house immigration experience within an H-1B visa dependent firm. So if you are an immigration professional with at least 5 years of in house immigration experience, follow the instructions below to apply.
Basic Function:
Manage worldwide immigration program and provide related support to business operations with focus on three key areas:
1) Managing the U.S. immigration program (including B/H/L/TN visas and green cards)
2) Handling work permits and visa documents for short and intermediate-term international travel for employees based in U.S. and abroad
3) Managing immigration issues related to long-term international travel, expatriates, and permanent re-location for employees based in U.S. and abroad
This role will be solely responsible for evaluating and improving the immigration processes to achieve operational objectives, maintain controls, assist customers, and ensure controllership and compliance with legal and business requirements as well as effectively manage relationships with employees, business partners and outside counsel.
As the Immigration Manager your role will be to:
Assure compliance by understanding and enforcing regulations
Recommending new procedures and training
Prepare non-immigrant visa petitions (H-1B, L-1, TN) throughout application process including extensions, amendments, transfers, and cancellations
Complete required paperwork to file Green Card Petitions (Perm Labor Certification, I-140, 485 in EB1/EB2/EB3 category)
Prepare, organize, and timely submit standardized, well-written, and error-free support/sponsor letters and all appropriate USCIS forms
Provide and implement recommendations for ongoing audit compliance processes
Partner with external counsel to administer program
Handle a high volume of immigration-related matters
Liaison to employees on immigration matters
Manage a tracking database and monitor immigration cases to stay within filing deadlines
Influence and manage business and government relations
Budget, track and report immigration costs
Conduct legal research on available work permits and visas for international employee travel
Develop a process for ongoing updates and strategy advisories by country to reflect key country legislative or regulatory development impacting the global assignment process
Oversee and manage cross-border moves into region of responsibility and insure moves are made compliantly and efficiently
Maintain the integrity of immigration files
Review/proof documents
Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential
Requirements for this role consist of the following:
The ideal candidate must possess:
B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent)
5 - 7+ years solid experience with immigration management
In house immigration/human resources background required
Experience and enthusiasm for a wide range of domestic and international immigration matters
Additional skills include:
Law firm experience a plus
Organized and strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
Good communication and writing skills, ability to work with different personalities and temperaments and cross-cultural awareness
Ability to work autonomously with little direction
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
International experience and foreign language skills are a plus
