Cat Seizure (Fredericksburg)

Does anyone know anything about cat seizures? I got a cat from craigslist a few months ago and the previous owner said she had been to the vet the month before but didn't have any record of it. I (stupidly) trusted this person and was waiting a few months before I took her in for a check up. I am not saying the owner was lying, I am just saying I should have taken her myself.
Anyway, at 4:00 am this morning she fell off my bed and started having a seizure on the floor. Her arms and legs were straight up and down and she was convulsing violently and breathing heavily. It lasted 4-5 minutes. Afterwards she was dazed but walking. She hid under the bed and wouldn't come out. I stayed up for an hour to make sure she was okay. I couldn't take her to the Emergency Clinic because I am alone with 4 kids 6 and under this week while my husband is away on business. She has an appt in an hour though, the earliest I could get.
Has anyone ever had this happen before? Is this something she can recover from or is it a sign of something serious? She is the best cat we have ever had. Even my husband, who is definately a dog person, LOVES her and the kids adore her as well. Any help or information you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
