Ingrid is 18 months old and came to Furry Suits Rescue from a rural Virginia shelter. We don't know what the circumstances were, but she was an owner surrender. We cannot imagine why someone would give up this beautiful, sweet girl!

Ingrid is spayed and up to date on her shots. She walks great on a leash and gets along with other dogs and cats. She does have a fiesty side to her too. When she is done playing and doesn't want to be bothered she will let the other dogs know.

Ingrid is still working on her house training, but she is about 95%. We think once she has found her forever home and gets on a schedule she will be 100% trained.

Speckles came to Furry Suits Rescue from a shelter in Kentucky. He was VERY afraid and skittish. He loves women, but is a bit fearful of men. He will warm up to men once they have gained his trust.

Speckles got adopted about 1 year ago, but was returned to Furry Suits Rescue because he did not fit into the family's lifestyle.

Speckles needs to find that special person who can show him love and give him structure. Speckles needs exercise because he has put on some weight. He has been in boarding for the past few months because we do not have a foster home available.

Mya has had a really hard life even though she is only two years old. After numerous pregnancies, she was emaciated when she wandered into someones back yard and he decided to take her to animal control where she came down with upper respiratory (like the flu). Northern Virginia Dog Training Association is offering basic obedience classes in both Burke and Alexandria. We have been training dogs in the Northern Virginia area for over 50 years. Sweet, sweet stray puppy looking for a great home.

Intact male puppy 6-8 months old found in Sterling on 6/21/08. He is an Aussie, Aussie/mix, he weighs 42lbs and is 23inches tall and around 35inches long. He gets along great with our other male german shepherd and is absolutely gentle and sweet with our toddler, who is not so gentle and sweet. He has basic commands sit/down/stay and some whistle recall. He walks great on the leash and is a big fan of the dog park, where he plays nicely. He does have a strong desire to get at the squirrels and neighborhood cats, and he does play a little too rough with the small dogs, but can be recalled easily. He is pretty much potty trained, with some excitement peeing still happening. He is a puppy and he really loves to chew, but he does restrict most of the chewing to bones and his toys, but does still get into the toddler toys occasionally. He is a herder and that instinct comes out around livestock and children, but he is easy to train.

We love this dog and are heartbroken that we cannot be his forever home, but we know that he will make the best companion for someone that loves him.

We are asking for 2 personal (1 from a neighbor) references and a vet reference as is required by animal rescue.

These kittens have been rescued and we're now working to find them forever homes. Their mother has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (she was negative). The kittens have gotten their first distemper shots. They're about 10 weeks old and ready for adoption. Interested adopters will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. An adoption fee applies.

The kittens are super social and doing very well at a foster home in NW DC. We can adopt them to an adopter anywhere in the DC area, though we will ask you to fill out an adoption questionnaire and there is an adoption fee. We also do home visits with all our adoptions. Both of the remaining 2 kittens are male. Because they are so young, we will only place them as a pair or to homes with another young cat or kitten. It's very important for a kitten's social development to be raised with another kitten or young cat.

My wife and I are separating, and we have to find a new home for our 4 year old cat, Remington. Both of us are moving to places where cats are unfortunately not welcome, and he needs a loving home. He is totally black, neutered, solidly litter-pan trained, and is front declawed (although he still has his rear claws). He loves to be pet, especially if you have a treat to give him! He has been living with another cat and a small dog, so he is used to living around other animals.

Remington would come with his litter pan, food/water dishes, and his carrying case. I don't need any adoption fees for him, just the assurance that he would remain an indoor-only cat in a family/household setting. Since he has been declawed and has never needed to fight anything more ferocious than a scrap of paper or a bottle cap to get his meals, I would not feel comfortable having him go to a place were he would have to fend for himself outside, or have anyone take him who might use him as another other than a loving pet.

We are looking for a loving home for our wonderful one year old cat. She is very unique-looking, with black ninja markings around her eyes, black legs and tail, and orange and black speckled body. She has been raised in a family with lots of kids and traffic, and is very social and able to deal with touching, grabbing, strangers, other pets, loud noises and little kids with absolutely no problem. She loves being held and is very calm, but still likes playing with hairbands (a lot). She is not a vocal cat, and her meows are very soft. She purrs loudly.

Poncho and Buzz may be beagles, but they are definitely two peas in pod who have been the best of buds for as long as they can remember. They are about 3 years old. Sadly, they spent those three years, together, in a small kennel before their owner surrendered them to a rural shelter in West Virginia because she felt bad that they were confined to such a small area. These beagle buds are very affectionate and loving towards people and children, fine with other dogs, and seems to show no interest in cats. They are small to medium energy dogs, which means they need some activity but also can appreicate a good nap and being low key. They are generally quiet but outgoing in personality. They keep their kennels clean at the shelter, have already been neutered, and is up to date on all her shots and vaccinations. Poncho and Buzz would like to stay together if at all possible, but, of course, Poncho and Buzz want to be rescued from being put down more than anything. I went to this place called the Vet. Then I got really sleepy. I woke up and it feels like something is missing! I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I'm walking a bit funny.

Update 7/23/08: Caller saw Billy at 5:45 pm at S. Frederick St. and Columbia Pike. She tried to catch him, but was unsuccessful. She said he’s small, no white on the tail, and no collar. She says she also saw this same beagle at Parkland Condos yesterday morning.

Update 7/22/08: Two separate callers reported a beagle matching Billy's description near S. 10th St. and S. Columbus St. in Arlington, just south of Columbia Pike and west of Barcroft Park, between 10:30 and 11:15 this morning.

Update 7/5/08 11 am: Billy was following the caller and her dog on Columbia Pike near S. Walter Reed Drive

Update 6/24/08: At 4:30 am, a woman saw a tan and black beagle at the Golden Gate Apts. on Rt. 7 behind the CVS. This is just west of where George Mason meets Rt. 7, on the Arlington (north) side of Rt. 7. (Skyline Area.) She said he was mostly brown and black, with a white chest. So this sounds like a strong match for Billy!

Update 5/23/08 pm: Billy is back at Wakefield!! Linda, Joan and Tammy were at the Outback this afternoon when they got a call that Billy was sighted back near Wakefield. He ran into the back yard of a house in the 1100 block of S. Edison St.

Beautiful all-white adult male cat needs a new home!

He is 9.5 years old and has only lived in our home all his life. He is neutered, has no health problems, is already declawed, and always goes in the litterbox. He is pretty independent and can be left at home alone for several days in a row. He would make a great companion for adults that travel frequently or are gone most of the day.

Meet Checkers. Checkers the rooster was born on 1 May 2008. We purchased Checkers from Tractor Supply Store as a tiny little "peep" along with several other mixed chicks. As it happens, of the 26 or so chickens we bought, we ended up with 6 roosters. Checkers doesn't like kids. I have kids. Checkers pecks at little kids feets, that scares little kids. Checkers would do well in a home with a large space with other chickens that he can take care of - without kids. As you can see from the photo, he is very handsome and if I were to keep him, this is the rooster I would enter in our county fair next summer. His adoption fee is $10 and we respectfully request that if you wish to adopt him, it is because you only have chickens and you want to have 1 rooster amongst them, as Checkers needs to be around other poultry.

Nehi is a sweet boy & quite the looker with one brown eye and one brown & blue eye! He is a perfect size, weighing between 50 & 55 lbs, not too big, not too little... he's knee high!! Nehi loves attention & affection & wants nothing more than to please you. He knows most of his basic commands. He loves a good game with a squeaky toy, a ball or a tuggy rope.

Nehi is house trained, crate trained, gets along well with other dogs, walks well on a leash & is full of kisses & snuggles. We think he'd do best in a home without cats. Like most herding breeds he tends to "mouth" when he plays so would do better in a house that does not have very young children as he is still a "youngster" himself. He would be fine with older children (10YO+) as he does not have a mean bone in his body.

Nehi learns very fast and is at a stage where he will soak up anything you want to take the time to teach him. He's a big snugglebug that enjoys being near people, but also loves to go outside and run around and play.
