OC Systems has an immediate need for an experienced Perl Programmer.
Minimum requirements are:
1.Bachelors in Computer Science
2. Experience in Perl
3. Must be able to obtain a clearance with Customs so proof of US Citizenship is required
Job description:
The work will be done at the customer's site in Tysons Corner and will require a DHS clearance, which is similar to a DoD secret clearance. OC Systems has a few people working on the ACE project, a large ongoing J2EE US Customs and Border patrol project to modernize the task of properly controlling the flow of cargo across US borders. This project is hosted on many large virtualized AIX servers. OC Systems is a subcontractor with Lockheed Martin on this project. The successful candidate will work closely with the OC Systems' technical lead. There is a need for basic infrastructure to be written in the Automated Infrastructure Checkout (AIC) area. The AIC implementation is being done in "production quality OOP Perl" so familiarity with that is needed. Familiarity with XML and RPM is also desired. The AIC effort is about bringing a level of maturity to a complex project, so hackers need not apply.
AIC is an initiative to dramatically simplify the deploying of new versions of ACE. AIC has an object oriented design, allowing each of the various subprojects in ACE to write a plug in to define their deployment. AIC is then run and it not only detects problems in the deployment (e.g. port 1923 is not open), it automatically fixes them! It is an ambitious initiative. How smart can it be made? How easy can a new deploy be made when it is a very complex system? As you might guess, the ACE project is quite complex and has very stringent performance and security requirements (when ACE goes down, cargo stops crossing the US borders.) When you have 100's of servers and a sophisticated network scheme that provides access from the internet, deploying new versions can be a nightmare. Someone with excellent programming and problem solving skills is desired.
