Former Military, EMTs and persons with interest in security operations especially welcome! We are a State volunteer organization and receive training with the Virginia National Guard. Two new units are becoming active...one in Falls Church and the other in Warrenton.
The Virginia Defense Force is a state military force, with a targeted membership of 1,200 officers and enlisted personnel. Eligibility is open to all citizens of the United States aged 16 to 65 that are legal residents of Virginia. There are no contracts or minimum lengths of service. Training is held one Saturday a month and two weekends a year. Members are not subject to federal active duty and cannot be deployed outside of Virginia. The VADF falls under the control of the Adjutant General of the Commonwealth and can be called to active state duty by the Governor. VADF has a long history of providing support to the Virginia Army National Guard, tracing its lineage back to the first settlements in Jamestown.In recent years, the VADF has focused it operations on natural and man-made disasters, including limited activation of support personnel during hurricane Katrina.
