There is an old adage that, for the most part, has proven itself to be true: "Birds of a feather flock together." In other words, one can discern much about a person by the company he or she keeps. Accordingly, here is a sample of the quirky company of Senator John McCain.
As Jerome Corsi recently reported, John McCain has long enjoyed sizeable funding from the ultraliberal gazillionaire George Soros, and from liberal Massachusetts Senator John Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. (See the report here)
Question: Why would ultraliberals such as Soros and Kerry give so much money to a "conservative" Republican? Answer: They know that McCain is anything but a conservative. In fact, McCain is so liberal, he actually discussed becoming John Kerry’s Vice Presidential running mate on the Democratic ticket in 2004.
Dr. Corsi also reported the fact that McCain has chosen Juan Hernandez as his Hispanic outreach director. A former Mexican government official, Hernandez is a man who openly advances a "Mexico first" policy everywhere he goes.
Corsi wrote, "In an appearance on ABC’s Nightline in 2001, Hernandez said, referring to Mexican immigrants in the U.S., ‘I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think "Mexico first.""’ Neither John McCain nor any of his spokesmen have repudiated Hernandez’ sentiments.

Is it any surprise, therefore, that John McCain has agreed to speak at the upcoming annual conference of La Raza ("The Race")? As most readers probably know, behind La Raza is a radical Hispanic group that advocates a militant "reconquista" of the Southwestern United States.
John McCain is also known to have surrounded himself with corporate lobbyists, who, for all intents and purposes, seek only the success of their international corporation employers, not any "conservative" principle.
Noted columnist Cliff Kincaid recently wrote, "Not all conservatives thought the [New York] Times was off-base in going after McCain’s ties to lobbyists. These activists are angry that McCain is surrounded by lobbyists who put corporate interests ahead of conservative interests. They note, for example, that it has been impossible to get McCain to firmly commit to opposing the U.N.’s Law of the Sea Treaty. McCain has also indicated support for the International Criminal Court."

In addition, World Net Daily recently reported that McCain’s family fortune (via his current wife) is tainted with connections to organized crime. As far as McCain being able to support Court judges without a review that is just bullshit. It has to be approved by the Senate and for the upcoming four years the senate is controlled by Democrats. He can nominate all he wants but if the person appointed doesn't pass Senate muster (this happens to be one of the big things they are supposed to be paying attention to) then the nomination fails. If need be I see no reason why we can't beat the old record of nominations pending. 18 months I believe it was. Try to panic me with something real now.

A clumsy Russian forges a set of papers and publishes them in a book called “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” which shows that we plotted to bring on the late World War. You believe that book. Yours was a noble, sensual culture, unirked by the prickings of a social conscience or by any sentimental questionings about human equality. Who knows what great and glorious destiny might have been yours if we had left you alone.
But we did not leave you alone. We took you in hand and pulled down the beautiful and generous structure you had reared, and changed the whole course of your history. We conquered you as no empire of yours ever subjugated Africa or Asia. And we did it all without armies, without bullets, without blood or turmoil, without force of any kind. We did it solely by the irresistible might of our spirit, with ideas, with propaganda.
We made you the willing and unconscious bearers of our mission to the whole world, to the barbarous races of the earth, to the countless unborn generations. Our ancient little country is your Holy Land. Our national literature is your Holy Bible. What our people thought and taught has become inextricably woven into your very speech and tradition, until no one among you can be called educated who is not familiar with our racial heritage.
Jewish artisans and Jewish fishermen are your teachers and your saints, with countless statues carved in their image and innumerable cathedrals raised to their memories. A Jewish maiden is your ideal of womanhood. A Jewish rebel-prophet is the central figure in your religious worship. We have pulled down your idols, cast aside your racial inheritance, and substituted for them our God and our traditions. No conquest in history can even remotely compare with this clean sweep of our conquest over you.
How did we do it? Almost by accident. Two thousand years ago nearly, in far-off Palestine, our religion had fallen into decay and materialism. Money-changers were in possession of the temple. Degenerate, selfish priests mulcted our people and grew fat. Then a young patriot-idealist arose and went about the land calling for a revival of faith. He had no thought of setting up a new church. Like all the prophets before him, his only aim was to purify and revitalize the old creed. He attacked the priests and drove the money-changers from the temple. This brought him into conflict with the established order and its supporting pillars. The Roman authorities, who were in occupation of the country, fearing his revolutionary agitation as a political effort to oust them, arrested him, tried him and condemned him to death by crucifixion, a common form of execution at that time.
The followers of Jesus of Nazareth, mainly slaves and poor workmen, in their bereavement and disappointment, turned away from the world and formed themselves into a brotherhood of pacifist non-resisters, sharing the memory of their crucified leader and living together communistically. They were merely a new sect in Judea, without power or consequence, neither the first nor the last.
Only after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans did the new creed come into prominence. Then a patriotic Jew named Paul or Saul conceived the idea of humbling the Roman power by destroying the morale or its soldiery with the doctrines of love and non-resistance preached by the little sect of Jewish Christians. He became the Apostle to the Gentiles, he who hitherto had been one of the most active persecutors of the band. And so well did Paul do his work that within four centuries the great empire which had subjugated Palestine along with half of the world, was a heap of ruins. And the law which went forth from Zion became the official religion of Rome.
This was the beginning of our dominance in your world. But it was only a beginning. From this time forth your history is little more than a struggle for mastery between your own old pagan spirit and our Jewish spirit. Half your wars, great and little, are religious wars, fought over the interpretation of one thing or another in our teachings. You no sooner broke free from your primitive religious simplicity and attempted the practice of the pagan Roman learning than Luther armed with our gospels arose to down you and enthrone our heritage. And the end is still a long way off. We still dominate you. At this very moment your churches are torn asunder by a civil war between Fundamentalists and Modernists, that is to say between those who cling to our teachings and traditions literally and those who are striving by slow steps to dispossess us. In Dayton, Tennessee, a Bible-bred community forbids the teaching of your science because it conflicts with our ancient Jewish account of the origin of life; and Mr. Bryan, the leader of the anti-Jewish Ku Klux Klan in the Democratic National Convention, makes the supreme fight of his life in our behalf, without noticing the contradiction. Again and again the Puritan heritage of Judea breaks out in waves of stage censorship, Sunday blue laws and national prohibition acts. And while these things are happening you twaddle about Jewish influence in the movies!
Is it any wonder you resent us? We have put a clog upon your progress. We have imposed upon you an alien book and an alien faith which you cannot swallow or digest, which is at cross-purposes with your native spirit, which keeps you everlastingly ill-at-ease, and which you lack the spirit either to reject or to accept in full.
In full, of course, you never have accepted our Christian teachings. In your hearts you still are pagans. You still love war and graven images and strife. You still take pride in the glory of the nude human figure. Your social conscience, in spite of all democracy and all your social revolutions, is still a pitifully imperfect thing. We have merely divided your soul, confused your impulses, paralyzed your desires. In the midst of battle you are obliged to kneel down to him who commanded you to turn the other cheek, who said “Resist not evil” and “Blessed are the peacemakers.” In your lust for gain you are suddenly disturbed by a memory from your Sunday-school days about taking no thought for the morrow. In your industrial struggles, when you would smash a strike without compunction, you are suddenly reminded that the poor are blessed and that men are brothers in the Fatherhood of the Lord. And as you are about to yield to temptation, your Jewish training puts a deterrent hand on your shoulder and dashes the brimming cup from your lips. You Christians have never become Christianized. To that extent we have failed with you. But we have forever spoiled the fun of paganism for you.
So why should you not resent us? If we were in your place we should probably dislike you more cordially than you do us. But we should make no bones about telling you why. We should not resort to subterfuges and transparent pretexts. With millions of painfully respectable Jewish shopkeepers all about us we should not insult your intelligence and our own honesty by talking about communism as a Jewish philosophy. Dawn Lynn Shipley was cruelly shot and killed by a black man in the latest of a long string of racially motivated murders of young white women by black men in the US recently. She was shot on a street corner in public while with her boyfriend. Witness say his only words were “give me a cigarette.” The victim replied “no,” and she was shot and killed.
The mainstream is completely ignoring this crime. The local press is refusing to even mention that the murderer was black. CofCC.org has reported in the past that the media often covers up black crime by omitting the race of the perpetrator. Recently the Los Angeles Times publicly admitted to doing this on a routine basis.
A Baltimore resident tells CofCC.org that residents in this this majority white neighbor have seen a rash of black on white crimes and had made several requests for security cameras. The city of Baltimore has installed permanent security cameras all over Baltimore, but requests for cameras in this neighborhood have been ignored.
While the constitutional nature of security cameras are questionable, security cameras in England have in fact caught numerous acts of anti-white violence on tape as CofCC.org has reported in the past.

Israeli police have raided the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a corruption investigation into Prime Minister Ehud Olmert continues, official radio says. The raid follows one on Jerusalem's city hall on Monday. He is suspected of accepting bribes from a American Jewish businessman during his time as Jerusalem mayor and later as a minister. He has admitted accepting election campaign donations from Morris Talansky but said he took no money for himself. Police have now seized documents from Mr Olmert's time as both mayor of Jerusalem and minister of industry and trade. Mr Olmert is already being investigated in several other corruption scandals.

Postville, Iowa -- An infamous kosher meat packing plant whose Chabad Jewish owners turned an all white town into a Third World Mexican ghetto was raided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials yesterday, leading to the arrests of three hundred of the Jews' mestizo employees.
Hundreds of local white residents later gathered outside the detention facility, shouting anti-Jewish and anti-Mexican slogans and demanding the immediate deportation of the brown crowd.
According to the search warrant in the case:
"Based on information thus far developed in the investigation, it appears, based on 2007 fourth quarter payroll reports, that approximately 76 percent of the 968 employees of Agriprocessors were using false or fraudulent social security numbers in connection with their employment"
Federal officials said that mestizo plant employees were also manufacturing methamphetamine and assisting the Jewish owners in trafficking illegal weapons.
A group of Jews from Chabad-Lubavitch, led by butcher Aaron Rubashkin, set up the plant several years ago, drawing national attention as they banned white people from working there and brought in over a thousand illegal mestizos to the town to staff the place.
Their efforts have been the subject of sympathetic treatments from Jewish intellectuals, such as Steven Bloom, author of "Postville: A Clash of Cultures in Heartland America", who claims the Jews and their mestizos "revived the town" by excluding white workers from jobs and imposing Jewish and mestizo culture on the predominantly white, German community.
Jeff Schoep, commander of the National Socialist Movement, said he's undeterred by the area's large African-American and Jewish populations since moving his group to the area in December. In fact, he said, the diversity and distress of metro Detroit makes it ripe for recruitment.
"Detroit's a big city, and the economy is not real good," he said. "Anywhere the economy is bad, people are looking for answers. And I think we provide some."
Jack Kay, a University of Michigan-Flint professor who has studied racist groups, said, "These people can be incredibly savvy" in spreading their message.
But first, Schoep -- whose group uses a Detroit post office box -- must secure his position as the area's preeminent führer. In another part of metro Detroit, a rival is trashing his group.
"We at the ANP never had anything to do with them, and we never will," Paul Kozak, chief security officer of Westland-based American Nazi Party, wrote in an e-mail.
Kozak's group, which arrived in the late 1990s, dismisses the National Socialist Movement as outside the mainstream of neo-Nazis. Kozak said his group, by contrast, wants "to be like the Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, and so on."
The National Socialist Movement, or NSM, is best known in these parts for its 2005 march in a racially mixed neighborhood in Toledo that ended in rioting, and a provocative 2006 rally in Lansing.
With a few hundred members, it's the largest Nazi organization in the United States, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.
Schoep, 33, arrived from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. He has been monitored by the law center since at least 2004, when the center, which tracks extremists, tabbed him as one of "40 hate-mongers to watch."
But Schoep is far too busy to engage his critics. He lives in a Macomb County home he shares with a girlfriend; he spoke on condition that the town not be mentioned.
He had been preparing for an anti-immigration rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Three arrests, all counterprotesters, made the event held on the weekend of Adolf Hitler's birthday -- he was born April 20, 1889 -- a resounding success for Schoep's group, which thrives on the confrontation that a band of neo-Nazis waving red swastika flags and chanting tends to provoke.
Schoep rejects the label of a hateful agitator reveling in the dogma of a murderous regime, saying, "We're 100% legal. ...We do things by the book."
In Washington, he noted, his group marched with a legal permit, while counterdemonstrators were arrested for fighting with police.

While I certainly do agree that other groups participated in the hoax (they had good reasons to, as we shall see) the idea that the Jews just helped themselves to somebody else's fraud is untenable. I think it would be very difficult to determine at this point just exactly where the story of 'gassed' Jews first originated. To my mind, the point is essentially irrelevant. The British and Soviets are, of course, master liars. One need merely recall the British propaganda campaigns of the First World War. The Soviet communists (mainly Jews in those days) were always liars on principle. This is undisputed.
However, your thesis stumbles over some simple considerations. The 'gas chamber' hoax could never have become established as fact in the international arena without the stamp of the Nuremberg kangaroo court. Who was responsible for Nuremberg? Remember that the Americans and British (particularly the latter) were initially cool toward the idea of a 'war crimes' trial. Churchill simply wanted to shoot the defeated German leaders. It was Jewish organizations which sold-and then staffed- the war crimes tribunals. Specifically, it was the Robinson brothers of the Institute For Jewish Affairs of the World Jewish Congress who first proposed the idea. David 'Mickey' Marcus was the man in charge of picking all the personnel for both the Far East and Nuremberg trials. (Marcus was later influential in orchestrating the partition of Palestine vote at the United Nations during Thanksgiving week of 1948.) According to Hungarian author Louis Marschalko in The World Conquerors, out of 3000 total personnel at the trials, 2400 were Jewish. All of this indicates a very definite controlling power operating behind the facade of the Americans, British, French and Soviet Russians.
The situation might be analogized to the Balfour Declaration of the First World War and the subsequent Paris Peace Conference. Everyone knows that the British government issued the Declaration on its own letterhead. It is also known that numerous high English officials, such as Lords Alfred Milner and Robert Cecil participated in the drafting of the famous words, as did Jan Christian Smuts, South African Prime Minister, Leopold Amery and other Englishmen. But it is also documented that Zionists on both sides of the Atlantic ocean, such as Louis Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, Benjamin Cohen, Stephen Wise, Chaim Weizmann, Nahum Sokolow, Moses Gaster, Joseph Kessler and others, were the real drafters behind the scenes. So too at Nuremberg. Similarly, at the Paris Peace Conference following the war, the Entente was formally in charge but very powerful Jewish interests operated with the great powers demanding, and getting, a League of Nations, minorities treaties and a mandate over Palestine in which the Balfour Declaration was included in the San Remo Conference of April, 1920. The Jews at Nuremberg were operating much as the Jews at Paris is in 1919. One must also recall that it was a Jew, John Woods Short, who was the hangman at Nuremberg. It was a Jew, Wolf Frank, who read out the sentences to the convicted defendants. The Germans were hung in the middle of the Jewish high holidays in October, 1946-just before the Day of Atonement. Do you really believe that it was the Americans, the British, the French or the Soviet Russians who planned these amazing happenstances?
If you doubt the Jewish control behind the scenes I would point out that it was an American judge, Wennersturm, who declared after one of the subsidiary NMT trials that over 90% of the personnel at the proceedings had been 'foreign born' (an obvious reference to Jews). Recently the Nuremberg diaries of Senator Thomas Dodd have been published by Senator Christopher Dodd, his son. Dodd had been an assisstant prosecutor at Nuremberg. His diaries contain some very blunt passages about the overwhelming preponderance of the Jews at Nuremberg-and the danger that the general public might conclude that Nuremberg was a Jewish 'revenge' trial. All of this is sufficient, I believe, to demolish your position that responsibility for the hoax lies alsewhere than on the tribe. I might further point out that the end of the Second World War has seen an avalanche of Holocaust propaganda produced for television and the movies on the alleged extermination of the Jews. Needless to say little, if any, of this propaganda was produced by the national governments who sat as judges at Nuremberg.
I do think you have a point when you say that the victors of the war had motivations of their own for participating in the hoax. The Americans, British and Soviet Russians had committed enormous crimes of their own during and after the war. Thus, all the wailing about the sad fate of the Jews served to camoflauge those crimes and divert attention elsewhere. Among those crimes were the massive aerial bombardments of civilians started by the British, the mass expulsions and mass rapes in the east by the Red Army and its Jewish political commissars, Operation Keelhaul perpetrated by tha Amerians and British, the use of German soldiers as slave labor after the war by the French, Eisenhower's death camps for 'Disarmed Enemy Forces',etc. There is also a more fundamental reason for collaborating with the jews in the hoax. Jewish financial power has the capacity to destroy any country which dares oppose it. All governments, then and now, are deeply in debt to this financial power. This fact serves as a veto on any unwillingness to go along.
I find you very perceptive on the psychological reasons people believe in the extermination story. The death scenes in the camps at war's end are a powerful inducement to believe. People are also plain afraid of the implications of the hoax if the story is proved false. I believe that the 'gas chamber' hoax does indeed validate the Protocols of Zion. After all, if the Jews have lied about the one, why would they not lie about the other? ('False in one thing; false in all things', as the lawyers say.) I think that this little exchange of views is very helpful in elucidating who really bears the responsibility for the hoax. I would only add that if the groups promoting the hoax after conclusive exposure of its falsity has been provided continue on their course, then they have become 'accessories after the fact'-and therefore as culpable as those originally involved in its promotion and creation.

More than 300 people were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants yesterday as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents executed criminal search warrants at a kosher food-processing plant in Iowa.
U.S. Attorney Matt M. Dummermuth said the warrants were served at Agriprocessors Inc. in Postville, Iowa. Agents were searching for evidence of identity theft and fraudulent use of Social Security numbers at the plant.
"This is not the first time this office has been a part of a criminal work-site enforcement operation," he said. "However, this is the largest operation of its type ever in Iowa. Agents and officers from federal, state and local agencies are involved today. The coordination and logistical planning efforts have been going on for months."
Agriprocessors Inc., the world's largest kosher meatpacking plant, was notified before the raids and, according to ICE, is cooperating with authorities. The company shut down operations before the raid to avoid safety problems.

Had the guilty plea been officially submitted today, Ward could have been sent to prison immediately.”
Ward is apparently a former Catholic priest. One wonders how he became “former” and what his superiors in the Church caught him doing. It is not clear from the article whether Ward’s kiddie porn collection was little girls or little boys. Considering how many perverts were allowed to stay in the Church; one wonders how far a priest had to go to be thrown out.
SF Gate goes on: “Instead, Ward is to be sentenced Aug. 28. Weinberg said federal prosecutors intend to ask Walker to send the former talk show host to prison for nine years. Under federal law, the minimum term Ward could receive is five years. As part of the plea agreement, two other child pornography counts against Ward will be dropped… Ward, 57, has admitted that he downloaded and sent pornographic images of children on the Internet in 2004, but said he had been doing research for a book.”

Missouri and at least 19 other states are considering passing laws that would force people to prove their citizenship before they can vote. These bills are not a sincere effort to prevent noncitizens from voting; that is a made-up problem. The real aim is to reduce turnout by eligible voters. Republicans seem to think that laws of this kind will help them win elections, but burdensome rules like these — and others cropping up around the country — pose a serious threat to democracy and should be stopped.
The Missouri legislature is, as Ian Urbina reported in The Times on Monday, on the verge of passing an amendment to the State Constitution that would require proof of citizenship from anyone registering to vote. In addition to the Missouri amendment, which would require voter approval, Florida, Kansas, South Carolina and other states are considering similar rules.
There is no evidence that voting by noncitizens is a significant problem. Illegal immigrants do their best to remain in the shadows, to avoid attracting government attention and risking deportation. It is hard to imagine that many would walk into a polling place, in the presence of challengers and police, and try to cast a ballot.
There is, however, ample evidence that a requirement of proof of citizenship will keep many eligible voters from voting. Many people do not have birth certificates or other acceptable proof of citizenship, and for some people, that proof is not available. One Missouri voter, Lillie Lewis, said at a news conference last week that officials in Mississippi, where she was born, told her they had no record of her birth.
Proof of citizenship is just one of an array of new barriers to voting that have been springing up across the country. Indiana adopted a tough new photo ID voting requirement, over objections from Democrats that it would prevent eligible voters from casting a ballot. The critics were right. In last week’s Indiana primary, a group of about 12 nuns in their 80s and 90s were prevented from voting because they lacked acceptable ID.
As with Missouri’s proposed amendment, the driving force behind strict voter ID requirements in general is not a genuine effort to prevent fraud, since there is virtually no evidence that in-person voter fraud is occurring. It is, rather, the Republican Party’s electoral calculations. Barriers at the polls drive down voter turnout, especially among the poor, racial minorities and students — groups that are less likely than average to have driver’s licenses, and that are more likely than average to vote Democratic.
While Newt Gingrich is correct in warning that Republicans in Congress face formidable odds in November, his proposed nine-point "action plan" does not measure up as a solution to the crisis.
Some of Newt’s assumptions are undeniably sound, such as the folly of hitching congressional campaigns to McCain’s non-existent coattails. And it is true that the Republican Party’s crisis is the result of "catastrophic collapse of trust in Republicans." What are missing from Newt’s plan are policy measures that match his apocalyptic rhetoric.
Of Newt’s nine proposals, only a few attack major problems. Yes, declaring English our official language would be a giant step forward, and educating the public on the freedoms at stake in federal court appointments is a winner. But sound policy ideas alone will not defuse the voter cynicism which overshadows 2008 unless they address the problems that gave rise to the cynicism. I’m sorry to say that many of Newt’s proposals seem more designed to help incumbent Republicans fight the do-nothing label than to help mold a bold Republican Party platform.
An obvious issue which offers potential for Republican electoral success is illegal immigration, an issue Gingrich conspicuously ignores. In that telling silence, Gingrich echoes the strange insularity of the party’s beltway guns-for-hire. That silence and that absence of bold proposals only reinforce the public distrust Gingrich continually bemoans.
Evidently, Gingrich does not see any "real solutions" to the mess created by decades of open borders and near zero enforcement of our immigration laws. He is wrong: there are real solutions, but they are difficult solutions. Fortunately or unfortunately, reaching the one goal McCain has pledged to take seriously — achieving secure borders — will take at least five years of sustained efforts. During that period we can improve enforcement of our employment laws through the E-Verify Program and watch millions of illegal aliens self-deport as their jobs disappear.
It is a mystery why supposedly smart Republican strategists continue to ignore the elementary fact that border security and immigration enforcement have the support of over 75% of the American people. Illegal immigration continues to show up in polls as one of the top issues of concern to voters, and even liberal Democrats must pay lip service to border security. The challenge, of course, is to move from lip service to concrete, meaningful legislation. That is what is known as leadership.
It is true that Bush’s addiction to amnesty proposals and the rhetoric of "comprehensive immigration reform" have left the Republican Party with a schizoid image on this issue, but that is not the record of congressional Republicans. A majority of Senate Republicans opposed both the 2006 and 2007 amnesty bills, and House Republicans have overwhelmingly supported the enforcement-first strategy embodied in bills like the SAVE Act (H.R.4088). That bill now has 178 Republican signatures on a discharge petition because it has been denied a vote in committee by Speaker Pelosi. The reason Pelosi wants to keep this bill from a floor vote is the same reason Republicans should be talking about it daily.
If congressional Republicans want to run on Gingrich’s platform of “real change" and real solutions, border security and immigration enforcement have to be near the top of the list. House Republicans can run on this winning issue despite the obstructions thrown up by the RNC and the McCain campaign. It makes no sense for Republican strategists to acknowledge on the one hand that McCain has no coattails while refusing to adopt proposals that are good for the party as a whole merely because McCain is not on board. What is this, the blind leading the bland? Obviously, that independent strategy could be sabotaged if McCain begins to back pedal on the pledge he made at CPAC in February regarding border security.
McCain needs to be reminded every day that his presidential campaign was dead in the water until he started saying he had "gotten the message" and now supports achieving secure borders before attempting any other reforms. McCain should announce his support for the SAVE Act, which accelerates the concrete steps to secure borders, and dare Obama and Clinton to do the same. Instead, he announces he will speak to the national convention of the National Council of La Raza. This kind of shameful pandering to a special interest lobby devoted to open borders is not “outreach,” it is capitulation.
Gingrich has often provided outside-the-box proposals and ideas and frequently bucks conventional wisdom. But downsizing the U.S. Census Bureau and improving our air traffic control system simply don’t cut it as bold solutions designed to generate broad voter support in November. How about expedited deportation for the 400,000 criminal aliens now in our country? What about a crash program to implement the US-VISIT program so we can actually monitor the entry and exit of millions of foreign visitors who arrive annually on temporary visas? House Republicans could push a Resolution encouraging states to enact photo ID requirements for voting as Indiana has done. Memo to Newt: the large majority of voters would like to see a political party make a solid commitment to securing our borders instead of holding that goal hostage to amnesty legislation.
The failure of the Republican Party’s leaders to speak honestly and convincingly to the issue of border security is one of the big reasons for the "catastrophic collapse" Gingrich is understandably worried about. Any menu of "real solutions" that does not include halting the flow of illegal aliens into the country is simply mirroring the head-in-the-sand conventional wisdom that got us into this mess in the first place. Voters will not reward conventional wisdom in 2008. Real solutions that can gain voter support require real honesty above all else. A dose of real courage won’t hurt either.
It turns out that a number of Jeremiah Wright’s incendiary and racist comments are not new, and are traceable to leaders of the Black Muslim Movement. As it turns out, Wright’s radical ranting is an echo.
A glance back at history reveals an eerie connection between black separatists, the Nation of Islam (NOI) and Barack Obama’s pastor. Although both NOI and Wright excel at racist and anti-American rhetoric, it now appears that they read from the same hymnal.
For starters, Wright is known for calling white Americans “blue-eyed devils.” However, for all his originality, he is not the creator of that curse. Wallace Fard, the founder of the Black Muslim Movement, actually coined it.
In 1930, Fard, an Islamic black man, began stirring up the black community in Detroit about civil rights, poverty, slavery and white supremacists. Joblessness and hunger during the Great Depression swept the slums of Detroit, and Fard soon had a hate-filled following.
Another conviction shared by Pastor Wright and the Nation of Islam comes as well from Fard. Instead of “God Bless America,” Wright is singing, “God ---- America,” in harmony with Fard, who taught that Black Muslims did not owe allegiance to America or the American flag, but rather that they should disdain and hate both.
In 1934, Fard mysteriously disappeared and one of his protégées, Elijah Poole, assumed command. Poole, as was customary with the group, took a new last name, and became Elijah Muhammad. Some in the Black Muslim movement took Islamic names, others took just “X.”
One whose last name became “X” was Elijah Muhammad’s right-hand man, the former Malcolm Little, who became Malcolm X. “Mr. Muhammad’s powerful spiritual message opened” my eyes and “enabled me to see [white people] as a race of devils,” Malcolm X said, describing the moment of his revelation. “Elijah Muhammad’s statement, ‘the white man is the devil,’ it just clicked.’”
Malcolm X wrote in his autobiography, “The Muslims’ ‘X’ symbolized the true African family name that he never could know. For me, my ‘X’ replaced the white slave master name of ‘Little’ which some blue-eyed devil named Little had imposed on my parental forebears…”
In an interview, Malcolm X explained his views, “What I want to know is how the white man, with the blood of black people dripping off his fingers, can have the audacity to be asking black people, ‘do they hate him?’ That takes a lot of nerve.” When asked why he called it “good news” that 120 white Atlantans had died in an airplane crash, Malcolm X replied, “Sir, as I see the law of justice, it says as you sow, so shall you reap… We Muslims believe that the white race, which is guilty of having oppressed and exploited and enslaved our people here in America, should and will be the victims of God’s divine wrath.”
Last month Rev. Jeremiah Wright reaffirmed that 9/11 was America’s fault. “We bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki… and we never batted an eye….We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff that we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”
Is the tune beginning to sound familiar?
Wright was actually quoting Malcolm X, who said two weeks after President Kennedy’s assassination that the president’s death was a case of “chickens coming home to roost.”
Less surprising than would have been previously thought, Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s words echo the chorus of Black Muslim/Nation of Islam leaders Fard, Muhammad, “X” and Farrakhan. In December, Wright’s church gave Louis Farrakhan a lifetime achievement award – the same Farrakhan who has repeatedly filled the airwaves with hate toward “blue-eyed devils” (whites), America and “bloodsuckers” (Jews).

WAR IS A RACKET
WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.
A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.
In the World War [I] a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns. How many other war millionaires falsified their tax returns no one knows.
How many of these war millionaires shouldered a rifle? How many of them dug a trench? How many of them knew what it meant to go hungry in a rat-infested dug-out? How many of them spent sleepless, frightened nights, ducking shells and shrapnel and machine gun bullets? How many of them parried a bayonet thrust of an enemy? How many of them were wounded or killed in battle?
Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few – the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.
And what is this bill?
This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.
For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out.
Again they are choosing sides. France and Russia met and agreed to stand side by side. Italy and Austria hurried to make a similar agreement. Poland and Germany cast sheep's eyes at each other, forgetting for the nonce [one unique occasion], their dispute over the Polish Corridor.
The assassination of King Alexander of Jugoslavia [Yugoslavia] complicated matters. Jugoslavia and Hungary, long bitter enemies, were almost at each other's throats. Italy was ready to jump in. But France was waiting. So was Czechoslovakia. All of them are looking ahead to war. Not the people – not those who fight and pay and die – only those who foment wars and remain safely at home to profit.
There are 40,000,000 men under arms in the world today, and our statesmen and diplomats have the temerity to say that war is not in the making.
Hell's bells! Are these 40,000,000 men being trained to be dancers?
Not in Italy, to be sure. Premier Mussolini knows what they are being trained for. He, at least, is frank enough to speak out. Only the other day, Il Duce in "International Conciliation," the publication of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said:
"And above all, Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace... War alone brings up to its highest tension all human energy and puts the stamp of nobility upon the people who have the courage to meet it."
Undoubtedly Mussolini means exactly what he says. His well-trained army, his great fleet of planes, and even his navy are ready for war – anxious for it, apparently. His recent stand at the side of Hungary in the latter's dispute with Jugoslavia showed that. And the hurried mobilization of his troops on the Austrian border after the assassination of Dollfuss showed it too. There are others in Europe too whose sabre rattling presages war, sooner or later.
Herr Hitler, with his rearming Germany and his constant demands for more and more arms, is an equal if not greater menace to peace. France only recently increased the term of military service for its youth from a year to eighteen months.
Yes, all over, nations are camping in their arms. The mad dogs of Europe are on the loose. In the Orient the maneuvering is more adroit. Back in 1904, when Russia and Japan fought, we kicked out our old friends the Russians and backed Japan. Then our very generous international bankers were financing Japan. Now the trend is to poison us against the Japanese. What does the "open door" policy to China mean to us? Our trade with China is about $90,000,000 a year. Or the Philippine Islands? We have spent about $600,000,000 in the Philippines in thirty-five years and we (our bankers and industrialists and speculators) have private investments there of less than $200,000,000.
Then, to save that China trade of about $90,000,000, or to protect these private investments of less than $200,000,000 in the Philippines, we would be all stirred up to hate Japan and go to war – a war that might well cost us tens of billions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of lives of Americans, and many more hundreds of thousands of physically maimed and mentally unbalanced men.
Of course, for this loss, there would be a compensating profit – fortunes would be made. Millions and billions of dollars would be piled up. By a few. Munitions makers. Bankers. Ship builders. Manufacturers. Meat packers. Speculators. They would fare well.
Yes, they are getting ready for another war. Why shouldn't they? It pays high dividends.
But what does it profit the men who are killed? What does it profit their mothers and sisters, their wives and their sweethearts? What does it profit their children?
What does it profit anyone except the very few to whom war means huge profits?
Yes, and what does it profit the nation?
Take our own case. Until 1898 we didn't own a bit of territory outside the mainland of North America. At that time our national debt was a little more than $1,000,000,000. Then we became "internationally minded." We forgot, or shunted aside, the advice of the Father of our country. We forgot George Washington's warning about "entangling alliances." We went to war. We acquired outside territory. At the end of the World War period, as a direct result of our fiddling in international affairs, our national debt had jumped to over $25,000,000,000. Our total favorable trade balance during the twenty-five-year period was about $24,000,000,000. Therefore, on a purely bookkeeping basis, we ran a little behind year for year, and that foreign trade might well have been ours without the wars.
It would have been far cheaper (not to say safer) for the average American who pays the bills to stay out of foreign entanglements. For a very few this racket, like bootlegging and other underworld rackets, brings fancy profits, but the cost of operations is always transferred to the people – who do not profit.
CHAPTER TWO
WHO MAKES THE PROFITS?
The World War, rather our brief participation in it, has cost the United States some $52,000,000,000. Figure it out. That means $400 to every American man, woman, and child. And we haven't paid the debt yet. We are paying it, our children will pay it, and our children's children probably still will be paying the cost of that war.
The normal profits of a business concern in the United States are six, eight, ten, and sometimes twelve percent. But war-time profits – ah! that is another matter – twenty, sixty, one hundred, three hundred, and even eighteen hundred per cent – the sky is the limit. All that traffic will bear. Uncle Sam has the money. Let's get it.
Of course, it isn't put that crudely in war time. It is dressed into speeches about patriotism, love of country, and "we must all put our shoulders to the wheel," but the profits jump and leap and skyrocket – and are safely pocketed. Let's just take a few examples:
Take our friends the du Ponts, the powder people – didn't one of them testify before a Senate committee recently that their powder won the war? Or saved the world for democracy? Or something? How did they do in the war? They were a patriotic corporation. Well, the average earnings of the du Ponts for the period 1910 to 1914 were $6,000,000 a year. It wasn't much, but the du Ponts managed to get along on it. Now let's look at their average yearly profit during the war years, 1914 to 1918. Fifty-eight million dollars a year profit we find! Nearly ten times that of normal times, and the profits of normal times were pretty good. An increase in profits of more than 950 per cent.
Take one of our little steel companies that patriotically shunted aside the making of rails and girders and bridges to manufacture war materials. Well, their 1910-1914 yearly earnings averaged $6,000,000. Then came the war. And, like loyal citizens, Bethlehem Steel promptly turned to munitions making. Did their profits jump – or did they let Uncle Sam in for a bargain? Well, their 1914-1918 average was $49,000,000 a year!
Or, let's take United States Steel. The normal earnings during the five-year period prior to the war were $105,000,000 a year. Not bad. Then along came the war and up went the profits. The average yearly profit for the period 1914-1918 was $240,000,000. Not bad.
There you have some of the steel and powder earnings. Let's look at something else. A little copper, perhaps. That always does well in war times.
Anaconda, for instance. Average yearly earnings during the pre-war years 1910-1914 of $10,000,000. During the war years 1914-1918 profits leaped to $34,000,000 per year.
Or Utah Copper. Average of $5,000,000 per year during the 1910-1914 period. Jumped to an average of $21,000,000 yearly profits for the war period.
Let's group these five, with three smaller companies. The total yearly average profits of the pre-war period 1910-1914 were $137,480,000. Then along came the war. The average yearly profits for this group skyrocketed to $408,300,000.
A little increase in profits of approximately 200 per cent.
Does war pay? It paid them. But they aren't the only ones. There are still others. Let's take leather.
For the three-year period before the war the total profits of Central Leather Company were $3,500,000. That was approximately $1,167,000 a year. Well, in 1916 Central Leather returned a profit of $15,000,000, a small increase of 1,100 per cent. That's all. The General Chemical Company averaged a profit for the three years before the war of a little over $800,000 a year. Came the war, and the profits jumped to $12,000,000. a leap of 1,400 per cent.
International Nickel Company – and you can't have a war without nickel – showed an increase in profits from a mere average of $4,000,000 a year to $73,000,000 yearly. Not bad? An increase of more than 1,700 per cent.
American Sugar Refining Company averaged $2,000,000 a year for the three years before the war. In 1916 a profit of $6,000,000 was recorded.
Listen to Senate Document No. 259. The Sixty-Fifth Congress, reporting on corporate earnings and government revenues. Considering the profits of 122 meat packers, 153 cotton manufacturers, 299 garment makers, 49 steel plants, and 340 coal producers during the war. Profits under 25 per cent were exceptional. For instance the coal companies made between 100 per cent and 7,856 per cent on their capital stock during the war. The Chicago packers doubled and tripled their earnings.
And let us not forget the bankers who financed the great war. If anyone had the cream of the profits it was the bankers. Being partnerships rather than incorporated organizations, they do not have to report to stockholders. And their profits were as secret as they were immense. How the bankers made their millions and their billions I do not know, because those little secrets never become public – even before a Senate investigatory body.
But here's how some of the other patriotic industrialists and speculators chiseled their way into war profits.
Take the shoe people. They like war. It brings business with abnormal profits. They made huge profits on sales abroad to our allies. Perhaps, like the munitions manufacturers and armament makers, they also sold to the enemy. For a dollar is a dollar whether it comes from Germany or from France. But they did well by Uncle Sam too. For instance, they sold Uncle Sam 35,000,000 pairs of hobnailed service shoes. There were 4,000,000 soldiers. Eight pairs, and more, to a soldier. My regiment during the war had only one pair to a soldier. Some of these shoes probably are still in existence. They were good shoes. But when the war was over Uncle Sam has a matter of 25,000,000 pairs left over. Bought – and paid for. Profits recorded and pocketed.
There was still lots of leather left. So the leather people sold your Uncle Sam hundreds of thousands of McClellan saddles for the cavalry. But there wasn't any American cavalry overseas! Somebody had to get rid of this leather, however. Somebody had to make a profit in it – so we had a lot of McClellan saddles. And we probably have those yet.
Also somebody had a lot of mosquito netting. They sold your Uncle Sam 20,000,000 mosquito nets for the use of the soldiers overseas. I suppose the boys were expected to put it over them as they tried to sleep in muddy trenches – one hand scratching cooties on their backs and the other making passes at scurrying rats. Well, not one of these mosquito nets ever got to France!
Anyhow, these thoughtful manufacturers wanted to make sure that no soldier would be without his mosquito net, so 40,000,000 additional yards of mosquito netting were sold to Uncle Sam.
There were pretty good profits in mosquito netting in those days, even if there were no mosquitoes in France. I suppose, if the war had lasted just a little longer, the enterprising mosquito netting manufacturers would have sold your Uncle Sam a couple of consignments of mosquitoes to plant in France so that more mosquito netting would be in order.
Airplane and engine manufacturers felt they, too, should get their just profits out of this war. Why not? Everybody else was getting theirs. So $1,000,000,000 – count them if you live long enough – was spent by Uncle Sam in building airplane engines that never left the ground! Not one plane, or motor, out of the billion dollars worth ordered, ever got into a battle in France. Just the same the manufacturers made their little profit of 30, 100, or perhaps 300 per cent.
Undershirts for soldiers cost 14¢ [cents] to make and uncle Sam paid 30¢ to 40¢ each for them – a nice little profit for the undershirt manufacturer. And the stocking manufacturer and the uniform manufacturers and the cap manufacturers and the steel helmet manufacturers – all got theirs.
Why, when the war was over some 4,000,000 sets of equipment – knapsacks and the things that go to fill them – crammed warehouses on this side. Now they are being scrapped because the regulations have changed the contents. But the manufacturers collected their wartime profits on them – and they will do it all over again the next time.
There were lots of brilliant ideas for profit making during the war.
One very versatile patriot sold Uncle Sam twelve dozen 48-inch wrenches. Oh, they were very nice wrenches. The only trouble was that there was only one nut ever made that was large enough for these wrenches. That is the one that holds the turbines at Niagara Falls. Well, after Uncle Sam had bought them and the manufacturer had pocketed the profit, the wrenches were put on freight cars and shunted all around the United States in an effort to find a use for them. When the Armistice was signed it was indeed a sad blow to the wrench manufacturer. He was just about to make some nuts to fit the wrenches. Then he planned to sell these, too, to your Uncle Sam.
Still another had the brilliant idea that colonels shouldn't ride in automobiles, nor should they even ride on horseback. One has probably seen a picture of Andy Jackson riding in a buckboard. Well, some 6,000 buckboards were sold to Uncle Sam for the use of colonels! Not one of them was used. But the buckboard manufacturer got his war profit.
The shipbuilders felt they should come in on some of it, too. They built a lot of ships that made a lot of profit. More than $3,000,000,000 worth. Some of the ships were all right. But $635,000,000 worth of them were made of wood and wouldn't float! The seams opened up – and they sank. We paid for them, though. And somebody pocketed the profits.
It has been estimated by statisticians and economists and researchers that the war cost your Uncle Sam $52,000,000,000. Of this sum, $39,000,000,000 was expended in the actual war itself. This expenditure yielded $16,000,000,000 in profits. That is how the 21,000 billionaires and millionaires got that way. This $16,000,000,000 profits is not to be sneezed at. It is quite a tidy sum. And it went to a very few.
The Senate (Nye) committee probe of the munitions industry and its wartime profits, despite its sensational disclosures, hardly has scratched the surface.
Even so, it has had some effect. The State Department has been studying "for some time" methods of keeping out of war. The War Department suddenly decides it has a wonderful plan to spring. The Administration names a committee – with the War and Navy Departments ably represented under the chairmanship of a Wall Street speculator – to limit profits in war time. To what extent isn't suggested. Hmmm. Possibly the profits of 300 and 600 and 1,600 per cent of those who turned blood into gold in the World War would be limited to some smaller figure.
Apparently, however, the plan does not call for any limitation of losses – that is, the losses of those who fight the war. As far as I have been able to ascertain there is nothing in the scheme to limit a soldier to the loss of but one eye, or one arm, or to limit his wounds to one or two or three. Or to limit the loss of life.
There is nothing in this scheme, apparently, that says not more than 12 per cent of a regiment shall be wounded in battle, or that not more than 7 per cent in a division shall be killed.
Of course, the committee cannot be bothered with such trifling matters.
CHAPTER THREE
WHO PAYS THE BILLS?
Who provides the profits – these nice little profits of 20, 100, 300, 1,500 and 1,800 per cent? We all pay them – in taxation. We paid the bankers their profits when we bought Liberty Bonds at $100.00 and sold them back at $84 or $86 to the bankers. These bankers collected $100 plus. It was a simple manipulation. The bankers control the security marts. It was easy for them to depress the price of these bonds. Then all of us – the people – got frightened and sold the bonds at $84 or $86. The bankers bought them. Then these same bankers stimulated a boom and government bonds went to par – and above. Then the bankers collected their profits.
But the soldier pays the biggest part of the bill.
