DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP

Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup – Hiring a Director

Feel great about what you do: Help Ocean Conservancy grow the International Coastal Cleanup -- the world’s largest volunteer effort to clean up our local beaches, rivers, lakes and streams. We are hiring a Director of the International Coastal Cleanup to be based in our Dupont Circle office in Washington, DC.

Since 1986, over six million volunteers in 127 countries have participated in this global event involving every major body of water on the planet. Each year, volunteers remove millions of pounds of trash, doing what they can to protect the environment by keeping our ocean healthy. Participants record the data of what is collected and that information is used to find the solutions that will prevent pollution. The Cleanup is more than a one day event – it is a year round movement that engages people from all walks of life to join together in behalf of our ocean.

Annually, the Cleanup already involves nearly 100 countries and half a million volunteers. At a time when so many people are looking for tangible ways to do something positive for the environment, we know that the International Coastal Cleanup can be exponentially larger than it currently is --- we are looking for a Director who can grow it in size, impact and influence. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years in management, volunteer organizing, fundraising, and/or communications.
