I'm finishing up my undergrad degree in Literature at AU this coming fall, and I need a place to rent out until the beginning of December, at which point I will graduate and move elsewhere. I will be out of the country until mid/late-August, so I would be interested in moving in either then or starting September 1st. These dates are fairly flexible, so please feel free to ask me about them.

I've rented apartments in DC before and can provide references. I am responsible, neat, and I love to do dishes. Seriously. I love animals but I don't have one of my own (meaning: if you have a dog/cat, I will walk/feed it while you're not at home. And I will love/snuggle with it). I'm really laid-back and I can sleep through literally anything, so if you're into having loud late-night shenanigans, you won't have to worry about disturbing me (that is, if I'm not already partaking). I have a full academic schedule, a part-time job, and a boyfriend in New York, so I probably won't even be home that much. But when I am home, I like to drink cheap wine, watch terrible (awesome?) movies, and cook epic meals. I have good taste in stuff and will happily share my movies and music with you.

I would like to live close to the red line so that I can't invent reasons not to go to class. I also work on 18th Street, so living close-ish to there would be nice, as well. I am more interested in location than the quality of the apartment itself; for the right area, I will pay a lot.

If you have a one-bedroom and want to rent out the living room to me, that'd be just fine. However, you'd have to be alright with my having house guests once in a while--not often, but maybe once or twice a month.

If you want to rent out a room (or living room) to me in exchange for services such as babysitting, dog-walking, cat-sitting, Swedish lessons (my native language), French lessons (I'm fluent), etc., that would be great.

I'm pretty desperate for somewhere to live, and I'm not all that picky to begin with, so don't hesitate to email me if you think we could work out some kind of living arrangement.

The 25B Bus goes to the Alexadnria Campus of NOVA, the 8 on Duke Street goes down towards my job and I just like the general area. A little about me:

I'm a 28 year old, female, outdoorsy, quiet, graduating senior at UF, who is about to get a degree in Wildlife Ecology/Zoology.
I'll be working on a project in DC with the Smithsonian. In addition, I'm a vet tech, a certified wilderness first responder, and a non-smoker, who is too
busy to be anything but quiet.
I'm a vegetarian, but I don't care what anybody else eats :)
I'm taking time off between my B.S. and my M.S., so this is a
time where I'll be pretty academically and professionally involved (i.e. I'm
not a partier).

I'd be moving in around the end of August till the end of October.
I'm not messy but not a neat-freak either. I'm pretty flexible, and since I'm used to sleeping outdoors in the field, any indoor accomodation is a real treat. Again, I'm not picky, so my only sticking points are to be not too far from the Smithsonian and the dogs (who are used to either being in a room or a yard during the day-they're really low maintenance.)

My dogs are not barkers, I have one aussie mix and one husky mix (who are both older and too pampered and lazy to bark at anything but the door) and two american staffordshire mix puppies. This is also a breed not known for barking, and for puppies, they are really laid-back. I rescued all of these animals so you don't have to worry that I'll be adopting any more or that they will be multiplying :) I'm also housebreaking the little ones, so by the time I get to DC, they should be ready in that arena.

I would love it if utilities were included, but I realize that its not a perfect world and am willing to negotiate. In short, I can be social but also have been known to squirrel away with a good book for hours.
I am bringing a car, so parking would be awesome!

I'm currently a grad student, and so have a somewhat limited budget. My lease is up the end of August, so I'm looking for something between mid- to late August for a move-in date.

What I'm looking for in a roommate is someone who can keep the common spaces clean. Also, as I'll be working on my thesis next year, I'll be holed up a good portion of the time in my room with a book and my laptop. So someone who a. adores talking all the time or b. likes to be excessively loud and distracting probably wouldn't work. I also have a very cute, strange cat who will be living with me. She's never lived with another cat, but I think would be fine with it (she's pretty young, so she should be flexible).

As for me, I am somewhat of a room dweller, but like to be sociable and friendly with my roommates. I don't expect to be best friends, but I also don't want to dread coming home and try to avoid my roommate. I have a long-term boyfriend, so he'll be over a fair amount. I have a strange sense of humor which can take a while to come out, I'm very responsible about bills and whatnot, respectful of other people's spaces and property (ie. I won't eat your food, or wander into your room, etc.) I'm obsessed with yarn and knitting and longing for a loom. I enjoy watching shows more outside the norm, like "Eureka," "Dr. Who," "Deadliest Catch," and most of the shows on the History or Discovery channels, plus "The Office" (does anyone NOT watch "The Office"?), "How I Met Your Mother," and "Chuck" among others.

- I have a cat. He's 11. He goes outside if the entryway situation with where I'm living allows it. He is not a shitty, moody cat. Most people like him. But if you're allergic to cats, you'll be allergic to him. He's cool, but he's not magical.
- I date men and women. I need a housing situation that is LGBT friendly and where the roommate(s) won't be weirded out by me bringing people home. I don't shuffle home with every shady person I encounter by any means, but I'm not a nun.
- I have a decent amount of furniture - couch, coffee table, end tables, dining room table, bookshelves. If your place can accommodate some of that, awesome. If not, I'll store or get rid of what I need to.
- I am not looking for a new best friend, but I'd like a roommate that I can hang out and chat with if we're both home at the same time. In general, I am pretty friendly, social, and according to my friends, I'm funny. I can get along with most people.

I can pay up to $1000 max, including utilities. I'm always good for paying rent, utilities or whatever other expenses might be shared on time. I would like a place that is metro accessible. I just recently graduated from UNC with my Master's Degree and I'm currently preparing for the CPA exam. Since I do spend a lot of time reading and studying, I'd prefer to live with someone who is relatively quiet; perhaps a grad student or professional would be ideal. However, I do normally go out at least once a week, love to dance, and I drink socially, so I swear I'm not totally boring and I would not have problems with occasional company, get-togethers, and that sorta thing. :)

While it is not a requirement, I would give preference to a place where I had my own private bathroom. As far as rent goes, my range is roughly from $300 - $700 depending on suitability, location, etc.

As for me, I am a 27 year old male and have a B.A. in History and Political Science, on top of the Master in Accounting. I'm also a writer and have been working on a few novels; right now, I also do some music reviews for an online magazine. I am fascinated by alternative energy and do a lot of analysis of wind and solar-related companies. I enjoy dancing, urban cycling, exercising, and most sports (particularly basketball).

I'm an open-minded and tolerant person and believe that I'd be happiest living with similar people in that regard. I have very eclectic tastes in music and my favorite artist of all-time is David Bowie. I listen to goth, industrial, indie rock, jazz, swing, rockabilly, classical, black metal/thrash, alternative, 80s, new wave, experimental music, and lots of other stuff, as well. I also watch a lot of film noirs and foreign films.

I am a non-smoker. I am neither a slob nor a clean freak, but I do try to keep things as clean as possible when living with others. I do not have any pets, but I do love cats! I do not mind well-behaved dogs. I am LGBT-friendly.

I am 23, open-minded, new to the area, and love a good time. While I like to go out and have a good time or host the occasional party, I am responsible and also love to cook and share a quiet night at home. I'm incredibly interested in the outdoors and photography.

I am a professional male, 42, married, fit and active, live in NC, and commute on work to Rockville area Sunday-Thursday every other week, sometimes continuous weeks. Usually stay in hotels, and now prefer a bed I can call my own when I visit. I must have a private bedroom with A/C and a private, non-shared bathroom. An assigned parking spot is preferable. I am very picky about being spotlessly clean, and am a non-smoker. Because I don't have time to clean, I will most likely engage a maid service to come in and clean the room and bathroom every Friday that I am in town, and that should not cause a problem to others. I may do some light breakfast/dinner cooking like oatmeal and eggs, so definitely need access to a refrigerator and stove, and not just a microwave oven. I usually go out in the evenings when I am in the area. I work normal business hours, am sociable and trustworthy. No pets. No drugs. No loud music late at night. Prefer a month-to-month arrangement if possible. Furnished OK.

A male PhD candidate/Fulbright scholarship student in his 20s is looking for 6 months of temporary furnished housing in the Rockville area, beginning in September, 2008.

He will be working in my laboratory at the intersection of W. Montgomery Ave (Rt28) and Research Blvd. in Rockville (see the Yahoo map; the Google one doesn't appear to be working presently) and relying primarily on public transportation. Thus, housing in the general areas of Rockville Town Center, King Farm, or Rio (or between these areas and the laboratory) would be preferred.

The student is on a budget limited by his scholarship funds, and so rent above $700/month inclusive of utilities cannot be considered.

The student will be arriving in the US on September 9, 2008, and will require housing immediately upon his arrival. As such, I'd like to arrange his housing prior to that time, and will be the one to check out any potential rentals.
