Our charming home is located in the delightful small town of Sebastopol, in the Sonoma County wine-growing region (and near the Napa Valley wine country) of California. It is a one-hour drive to San Francisco, and 1/2 hour to the Pacific ocean, a redwood forest and many wineries.
Our home is filled with light (lots of windows), very quiet (on a dead-end street) and close to downtown. Our kitchen, newly remodeled, has a dishwasher, microwave, large refrigerator, and a retro 1950s gas stove/oven which cooks, grills and broils. We have a large living room, dining room and a small family room with a High Definition flat screen TV, satellite/TIVO, VCR and DVD. From our quiet street, you will be within 5 to 15 minutes' walking distance of Sebastopol�s library, smart shops and art galleries, book and music stores, a community live theater, movie theaters, grocery and variety stores, tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool and churches. A nearby street is lined with whimsical �junk� art sculptures by a local artist which our guests love to see. Nearby Santa Rosa has night-life, museums (including the Charles Schultz/Peanuts cartoon museum) and galleries.

Sebastopol�s many restaurants include an old-time American Diner; Mexican, French, Italian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Thai and Japanese ethnic food; a Michelin Guide one-star bistro, wine bars, brew pubs, a hard cider pub and lots of fresh seafood. There is also a Farmer�s Market with fresh produce and live music on Sundays, coffee houses with live entertainment and wonderful bakeries. San Francisco is a one-hour drive. We used to live in San Francisco and can give you information on many of the more unique places to see there.

Sonoma County is a wonderful area for biking on the many bike paths and rural roads (we have 2 bikes), hiking through the redwood trees (some of the tallest on earth), visiting our magnificent Pacific coast (30 minutes away) and wine tasting in numerous award-winning wineries. The coast is breathtakingly beautiful and rugged with sandy beaches. The ocean here is too cold and dangerous for swimming but the nearby Russian River beaches and lakes are a delightful way to cool off, swim, sail, kayak, canoe and/or jet ski. Driving the rural roads is a pleasure and you will see bucolic farms and ranches and wildlife such as seals, sea lions, deer, many kinds of birds, wild turkeys, raccoon, even elk at Point Reyes National Seashore. Bring your binoculars and camera; we can provide birds books, maps, brochures, etc. of the interesting places to visit in our area.

We are a retired couple. Alan was an engineer and has done most of the remodeling on our home. He is an avid motorcycle rider. Beverly was an attorney assistant (paralegal) and now does crafts using tesserae (broken pieces of dishes, tiles, odds and ends, etc). She designed and created the tesserae backsplash in the kitchen. Lara is our adult daughter who lives in Central California. We met and married while serving in the Peace Corps in Tanzania, East Africa in the mid-1960s and have returned there twice. We are visiting Washington DC to see our deceased son's photograph displayed in the National Portrait Gallery and to get together with our old Peace Corps buddies. We did a home exchange last year with a lovely woman from Florence, Italy. It was a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to our next home exchange.

Although similar units are on the market in the building for 179,000-239,000, I would be eager to trade mine for something small in the DC area. It is currently rented through October to a great lawyer who pays 1075 a month and is always early with her rent. She would probably want to stay after her lease is up or you could move in for next fall/winter, etc. I moved here to take care of my mom 7 years ago, and want to come back up there. I also have a house here.

The condo itself is great. It is a large 811 sq feet on the 4th floor over the beautiful pool area. It has tons of closet spacem a huge galley kitchen, and several upgrades. Not included in the sq footage is a huge 150 sq ft balcony. The building is very friendly and is full of urban professional types and some very active retirees....not many children at all, if any in the whole 186 unit building.

I have lived in DC and Alexandria over most of my 30 yrs in DC. I would be looking for a studio opr one bedroom condo almost anywhere in the area. If this sparks your interest, let me know. The sooner I get back to DC the better and YOU would absolutely love St Pete.

We plan to downsize to a downtown townhouse from a great Bethesda location near top public and private schools. We would swap permanently for a townhouse between N and T Streets and 15th and 25th Streets in Northwest Washington, DC.

Our house is located in a neighborhood where developers buy for $800K or more, tear down, build a mansion and sell for $2+ million. As a result, we have not made many investments lately since adding a great Florida room addition about 8 years ago and turning the garage into an office.

We want a two bedroom plus English basement townhouse with one parking space in good or decent shape. Our split-level house has:

Location is in Oakwood Knolls, Bethesda, MD, near Whittier Blvd. and Landon Ln., about 1/3 acre, in walking distance to Landon, Walt Whitman High and equivalent middle and elementary schools, 2 miles to Beltway and Bethesda metro, and a 2 minute walk to Ride-on bus.
