UNDERGROUND CULTURE AND POLITICS

International web site located in Washington DC seeks writers. Part-time positions could become full-time. We pay particular attention to concerts and events here in the area and have plans for a local version of our site.

Students are welcome. You can get valuable work experience here. Foreign language speakers (particularly German) and immigrants are particularly welcome.

We live in a world where the political order in power is failing on a massive scale. The world of underground culture is a forum where new ideas can be distributed that can serve as basis for global change.

We cover subjects such as heavy metal rock, including black metal and death metal and creative forms of art such as science fiction art and tattoo art. We also cover film. We have a focus on studying links between the past and present. There are very clear connections for example between ancient paganism and modern metal, particularly certain aspects of black metal in Europe and Latin America. There is also a connection between ancient paganism and a respect for the environmental foundations of life on planet. Today these biological foundations of life are being systematically destroyed by the current political order that rules our planet.

Writing work here involves following cultural trends, particularly on an international scale. Work can involve going to concerts and covering what's happening on Myspace and You Tube.

Being well-informed about environmental matters and current events is also relevant. We want to increase the awareness of the artistic community about what is going on in the world. We want to make contact with artists and influential people in the media and entertainment industries here in America and in Europe.

If you have a Myspace page, please send it to us so we can see your cultural tastes and interests.

More details are on our help wanted page. (Link is on upper right hand corner of our web pages.)

Blog Contest for $500 Prize

"Make A Difference" Blog Contest

We are sponsoring a “Make a Difference” blogging contest to promote awareness of the dangers of skin cancer in young adults. This contest has been created in response to a study by Dermanetwork.org about public support banning the use of tanning beds by young adults.

Bloggers are to create a blog entry that is educational and has a large impact on the population of readers. Blogs will be evaluated based on a specified point scale and judged on both educational content and impact on the readers. A panel will judge all entries and decide the winner.

Blogs have positioned themselves as a powerful media to reach the public, including the young adults who may not read a newspaper or watch the news. Our hope is to spread education through the web in a way that will touch the lives of children, who are possibly the most endangered by melanoma.

The winner will get a choice between a donation of $500 dollars to the Melanoma Research Foundation in their name or a $500 Visa Gift Card.

If interested in applying, please send an email to BlogHealthNews@gmail.com and we will send the specific contest rules to you.

Good luck!
