Accounting Administrator

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Director this position provides accounting support for the company. In addition, they will also perform data entry tasks, office management, assistance on special projects and general administrative support. They will interact with clients, vendors, and other departments to troubleshoot and effectively resolve issues. As a team member that handles highly confidential information, this position is not part of the union bargaining unit.

Job Responsibilities

-Responsible for various accounting functions such as AP/AR, collections, reconciliations, etc.
-Maintains office supplies and environment
-Assists clients with questions via phone or email regarding the following: payments, billing, or collections
-Data entry, database management, electronic organization and filing
-Follows up on all assigned tasks until positive completion is arrived
-Miscellaneous tasks which may include cleaning, and general office administration
-Work directly with the Operations Director with a goal of professional and personal development
-Other responsibilities as requested


-2-5 years of accounting experience with AP/AR, general ledger bookkeeping, reconciliations, collections, etc.
-Based in Washington, DC
-1-2 years of general administrative experience
-Excellent skills with QuickBooks Online, Excel and Google Suite
-Data entry skills and customer service experience
-Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills
-Clear and effective communicator both verbally and written
-Detail oriented, organized, flexible, and dependable
-Self-motivated, independent, needs little supervision
-Meticulous about ensuring that data is accurate, able to perform self-checks and recognize errors
-Ability to manage and handle frequent interruptions in workflow, re-prioritizing when necessary
-Understands that while process and rigor are important, a human approach, common sense, trust, and follow through are just as important
-Willingness to go above and beyond when necessary to get the job done, including occasionally working long hours, evenings or weekends
-Values driven, you are excited to do this work because you believe in the end cause
-Fast learner, able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly
